I assumed it would be hilly. Unless I'm having a really good day, I plan to do the detour as well. And my sister and I are signed up for the 5k for a shake-out run Saturday. My choices were 1) ignore the pain and just go for it, 2)turn around and finish the 13.1 instead, or 3) just deal with it as best I could. I had a weird hip/groin thing during my marathon too, and it was the first time I had experienced that pain in any of my training.
