Knockin' Around in my Knockarounds

Disclaimer: I received two pairs of Knockaround sunglasses (to try out and review) as part of being a Bibrave Pro. Learn more about becoming a Bibrave Pro (ambassador), and check out Bibrave.com to review, find, and write race reviews.

The fall season's been so bright, I simply had to wear shades.

After all, we need to protect our eyes from the sun and wind. Besides, a little wrinkle prevention never hurt anyone. And, we might as well look stylish as we do so, am I right?

With my dry skin, and sensitive eyes, I've always been an advocate for sunglasses. Whether I'm outdoors, logging some miles in the running shoes, or within the confines of my car, I gotta wear shades.

But not just any shades....

Fruit Punch (Premium Sport)

Enter the world of Knockaround

From their site:
"Knockaround is the original, affordable sunglasses company from San Diego, CA, founded by Adam “Ace” Moyer in 2005. Centered around durable shades that are both practical and stylish, Knockaround provides high-quality sunglasses that won’t break the bank. Knockaround offers fifteen different frame styles in a wide range of colors as well as ongoing Limited Editions, collaborations, and an interactive “design your own” CUSTOM shop."

I have been a fan of Knockaround sunglasses for awhile, and have amassed quite a nice "starter" collection.

When I had the opportunity to try two new-to-me styles, I was totally on board. I mean, why not?

on the left: Torrey Pines in Victory Lap... on the right: Pacific Palisades in Soul Surfer

Both of these new sunglasses have already seen a lot of action, on foot and on wheels. As far as I'm concerned, you can't go wrong with any of their sunglasses (they even have kids' sizes!).

Here are five things to love:

**The selection of colors and styles, with the unique option to customize your very own pair. You can also choose polarized lenses (for a very minimal upcharge of $5.00).

Victory Lap (Torrey Pines)

**The benefit of quality eye protection. All lenses have UV400 protection and are FDA approved impact resistant.

Soul Surfer (Pacific Palisades)

**The versatility. You can wear them for fashion, or for sports, or simply just running errand. They've even been known to accompany me to my Iowa Hawkeye football games, just saying.

Victory Lap (Torrey Pines)

**The price point. Wow, these really are affordable for anyone with the prices starting at $15!

 Fruit Punch (Premium Sport)

**Frequent limited edition releases and special collaborations that support charities. It's a given I'm all about funky shades, but when they help support a great cause? Yes, add them to my cart, please!

Last winter's collaboration with Juxtaposition Arts - #JustShowUp II (Premium Sport)

So, this is just an itsy-bitsy sampling of all that's available from Knockaround. If the price is right, the deal is real...and that's especially true when it comes to eyewear that's not only affordable, but functional and pretty to wear. Totally a triple win.

Here's what a few other Bib Rave Pro peeps are saying: Stephanie, Ciara, Juan

Do you wear sunglasses on a regular basis, for fitness and for fun? Have you heard of Knockaround sunglasses? If so, how many pairs do you own? Which is your favorite (if you can even pick a favorite, LOL)?

  1. Interesting review.
I didn't know the Knockaround sunglasses but they look beautiful.
I don't wear sunglasses while running but only in summer on the beach or during sunny days.

    1. These sunglasses are so much fun! I wear sunglasses year-round because my eyes are so sensitive...not just to the bright sun, but also to the wind. Besides, I don't want (or need) any unnecessary wrinkles forming ;-)

  2. I do love all the colors! But I also love wraparound sunglasses for the added protection they provide.

I'm generally very vigilant about wearing sunglasses & it's rare to see outside photos of me without them -- except sometimes while hiking, because it makes things too dark (lots of shade while hiking frequently!).

    1. I sometimes have to prop them on my head (ala makeshift headband) if I'm in a dark setting, but I seldom leave the house without them. They stay put, though, and don't slide down my nose like some other brands have done.

  3. My eyes water pretty easily so sunglasses are an absolute must for me! Funny enough I just ordered another pair of Knockarounds :) You've got a great collection!

    1. My eyes water a lot, too, and I hate squinting...so sunglasses to the rescue!

  4. You know they are my favorite brand and my signature accessory!

  5. Since I don’t wear contacts and am blind without my glasses, I’m shut out of the knockarounds craze! I wish Rx sunglasses weren’t so pricey. It would be fun to have cool options.

    1. That is such a good point, and one I take for granted. If I ever got to the point of needing (fulltime) prescription glasses, I'd be in a bind. There's no way I even would consider contacts, because my eyes are so sensitive, and I think having a lens floating around on my eyeball would totally creep me out, LOL.

  6. Living in Florida, I need sunglasses every single day. Today it's overcast and I still have mine with me (you never know when that sun is going to come and and try to blind you!). I'm due for a new pair soon... maybe I'll try these! They look super cute and you can't beat that price.

    1. Hey, if you act quickly, you can save 20% with code BRKnocks3, but it expires today. I seldom leave the house without sunglasses, except for my early-morning runs which are in the dark.

  7. I historically have been very bad about wearing sunglasses, but in recent years, I've (finally) realized how important they are. These days, I have too many Knockarounds to count. I love the different patterns and styles and as you said, the limited editions add to the fun!

    1. I got my first pair of Knocks from your Earth Day post (April 2020), and that's all it took for this addiction of mine to start ;-) I agree that eye protection is so important...we need to protect our eyes (and keep the wrinkles at bay).

  8. If I wasn't addicted to Goodrs, I would buy these. I love the colors and the price.

I do war sunglasses all the time and have to match them to my outfit

    1. I don't have enough to match every outfit (yet), but I have enough that coordinate with almost everything I wear ;-)

  9. Those look good on you! Like you, I have dry eyes that are very sensitive to light so I always wear sunglasses. I'm boring, though, and only have two pairs (one dressy and one sporty).

  10. Love them all! I have a huge collection of sunnies. My eyes are so sensitive and the sun here is so strong. I had to wear shades in a restaurant today because the glare through the window was so intense.
