…and, just like that, here we are in a new month, and a new year!
Our monthly coffee gathering is always a much needed break from our day-to-day stuff. This particular coffee date, though is on the tails of two holidays and several days of PTO from work. In fact, my brain is needing some caffeine to remember what actual day it is.
So, shall we have a quick coffee gathering and do some chatting?
Here goes..
At this first coffee gathering for 2026, I’d start the conversation by sharing my December stats. What’s unique for December is the fact that I had several full and half days of PTO, which had me out of my routine. Although I can walk at home, these particular PTO incidents had me running errands (and playing chauffeur to/from the airport for one of my daughters). Also, without doing the Winter Run Streak this year, my running miles were way down. Nonetheless, I’m fine with everything (especially my time on the bike!)
At this gathering, I’d tell you my New Year’s Day run was SO nice! It’s been a hot minute since I’ve gotten out for a morning run, amid bright sunshine. I had ZERO stiffness and I nailed the layers for the 16F temps. Also, the 9:41 pace was the fastest I’ve seen in a while. All good things!
At our coffee gathering, I’d bring out the Jar of Happiness. Anyone remember this, from a year ago? I’d seen this on social media, where you jot down an event that brought you happiness each week and stash it in the jar. Well, there were multiple weeks that had more than just one happy memory. I haven’t had a chance to read through all these 2025 happy memories, but I know I will continue this ritual in 2026. I just need to find a place to put all these 2025 memory tabs, because I just can’t part with them. A first world problem?
At this coffee gathering, I’d also tell you about a slight detail I overlooked on my Garmin challenges. It’s another first world problem, but had I paid a little more attention (and had the opportunity fur a few more skywalks in between the holidays), I would have easily passed the 15 Hour Walking Goal. Oh well…
Finally, since this is a coffee gathering, it’s only appropriate to share this little meme I stumbled upon. As much as I adore the heavenly aroma of coffee, the taste just does not work for me. I’ve been on an unsuccessful mission to acquire a taste for it, but it still tastes like hot pond water to me. Sorry, not sorry to all the coffee lovers out there.
Anyways, I’m gonna take a breather and grab a refill. Besides, I’ve said enough already, LOL.If we were gathered for coffee and chatting, what would have to share?
Since it's the first weekend of the month, I'm linking this with Deborah and Coco for the Ultimate Coffee Date

Haha, I think I like creamer too! I’m right there with you, I love the smell of coffee, but not the taste.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore the Jar of Happiness idea! Maybe you could empty the 2025 jar into a separate bag, then start fresh for 2026.
You could read an old memory of 2025 every day and then throw it away. That way you get all the joy of the old memories and can keep making new ones too!
You know I'm right there with you on coffee; I love the smell, but I just don't understand how anyone can like that bitter taste.
ReplyDeleteOh, I didn't think to check to see how close I might have come to any of the challenges that I didn't actually meet. Maybe I shouldn't! LOL
I do love the memory jar idea. I'd forgotten that you do that!
LOL on th coffee creamer! I do love coffee and love it with creamer :) I love the idea of the happiness jar and I want to remember to do start that when I get home this weekend!
ReplyDeleteI'm also not a coffee drinker! I've been putting peppermint mocha creamer in my tea though (only when I have black tea, not earl grey cuz that would be gross). I can see why it would really improve the coffee experience.
ReplyDeleteNice way to start the New Year, with a great run! Brr. I guess 16 isn't so bad if it's sunny? (still- brr.)
I love the Jar of Happiness idea. I might do that, or just start a notebook specifically to jot down happy moments. Otherwise it's too easy to let these memories fall into the great abyss,
Yes I am still with you on no thanks to coffee - it needs a lot of sugar/flavor for me to enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteI tried doing a happiness jar one year and then I completely forgot about it so I only had about 2 notes in there...but I think it's a great idea that I should probably revisit!
I love my coffee dearly, but we can agree to disagree! We'll also give you a point because my love of coffee is very dependent on adding a splash of half and half.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your remaining time off, and may your 2026 jar overflow!
girl my stats are almost non existent LOL
ReplyDeletelove the whole update, and just so happy with the thought of blogging again and having my amazing community back x
LOL on the creamer MEME. I do like coffee and will drink it black if I have to, but I didn’t mind having “full cream” in my coffee in Australia.
ReplyDeleteUgh on the Garmin walking challenge — I get your frustration!
Happy New Year!
You know I love my coffee but that meme made me chuckle :) I love that your Happiness Jar was filled with so many good things. I haven't done this practice in a few years (since my kids were little) but want to return to it for 2026. I hope your '26 jar overflows!
