A Chatty Holiday Gathering

How is it already time for not only the winter season, but also the holidays?

Alas, it’s also time for the final coffee chat of the year. Wow, didn’t see that coming quite so quickly!

What ya say? Shall we make a go of it, and do some hot beverage sipping and chatting?

If we were gathering and chatting, I’d start with my November stats. Hmmm, I guess things were consistent and stable, but there was nothing really stellar going on, LOL. I’m thankful that I’m at least keeping active on a daily basis and am not succumbing to the couch after especially busy work days. Glass half full!

If we were gathering and chatting, I’d share that I was invited to become a board member with my running club! Granted, my free time is already pretty limited, but this feels like a worthwhile venture. I’m all about sharing my passion for running, as well as meeting new peeps who share similar interests. Giving back to the sport I so enjoy is a no-brainer.

If we were gathering and chatting, I’d also mention my lack of MOJO with this year’s Run Streak. I’m excited to explore new 1-mile routes in my new locale, but most of those routes will be in the dark (due to my work schedule). I was hoping to check-out a few routes near my office, but we have not yet moved to our new permanent location, and there are not any options where we’re currently residing. Sigh. It’s a big-time first world problem, so I’m trying to not let it encompass too much real estate in the fitness center of my brain.

If we were gathering and chatting, I’d runfess my Peloton MOJO is also dwindling. I love the strength workouts, but they changed their fee structure this past year. With my precious limited available time, I just can’t see dropping more coin to upgrade. Having access to biking and treadmill workouts (which were cut from my current plan) would do me no good if I’m not able to squeeze them into my already full day. I’ve even let a few days slip by sans a Peloton workout (#gasp). I did get a big “Congrats on your 5-day streak” recently, which made me laugh since I’d had MUCH longer Pelo streaks prior, LOL.

Finally, if we were gathering and chatting, I’d tell you about a super fun event from last weekend. A group of us had a team for Elf Trivia Night, and we came in third place (the second place team beat us by only one point). I’m not a Will Ferrel fan, but I do love his portrayal of Buddy! Some of the trivia questions were very specific and tricky (like the color of the towel from the shower scene). Still, it was a fun night!

Anyways, I think I’m due for a refill (it’s been a very cold week here, and I’ve been slamming the hot beverages like crazy). I’ll step aside and let you have the floor…

Tell me, what would you want to share if we were gathering and chatting?

Since it's the first weekend of the month, I'm linking this with Deborah and Coco for the Ultimate Coffee Date.

  1. my husband has joined you (belatedly) in the running streak! He's been struggling with work lately, and decided a running streak would be just the thing (he's done the Memorial Day- July 4th one and really enjoyed it.) So I'll be cheering on both of you.
That trivia night sounds really fun! Did you win a prize, or just bragging rights?
I hope your office moves to the new location SOON. It sounds like that will solve multiple problems.

    1. I’ve done the Memorial Day streak once, many years ago. I loved it, due to the warmer weather, LOL. This winter streak really take a lot of dedication, but I never regret it (and am REALLY happy when NYD hits and I can call it quits).

  2. Sigh, it's so rough when work crowds out fitness time. I've been there... When will the office move happen?

It's been really cold here, though not Iowa cold. At least we have snow now, which is really pretty. Doggo is a huge fan of the snow, so it's fun to watch her do snow zoomies.

    1. The move originally was schedule for Thanksgiving week, but now they’re thinking around New Years.

  3. I think you will love being part of your run club ! As you know, my group has been a game changer for me and I’ve met my current besties from the group. I am doing so much more strength and less running! It’s all good just goes in cycles. Since I have the bike, I have the all access . Stay warm!

    1. You have rally been doing well with your strength-training! I’m trying to fit it in, and keep consistent, but it’s tough with my limited time. I’m glad I thought of doing the ALW workouts with heavier weights…those have been going well!

  4. I did the yearly App+ subscription, which works out to $20/month which I definitely put to good use. Soon I’ll be paying more than double if the Bike+ works out for me but I really love it.

You will be great on the board of the run club!

I want to know more about that Grinch shirt — I love it!

    1. I did a yearly subscription as well, but mine doesn’t include any of the biking, walking or running workouts. I’ve been listening to general cardio workouts and outdoor workouts while I do my thing, so I’ve been getting by. I do like having access to the strength workouts, which is why I’ll probably keep it. The Grinch shirt came from a Facebook ad…and took almost a month to arrive (I should have known better, LOL).

  5. Congrats on the Run Club board appointment. They made an excellent choice and I'll bet you'll have fun with it. I too am using Peloton less and really not caring about the upgrade. Don't need it.

    1. Yeah, I’m getting “enough” out of Peloton as it is, so I think I’m gonna just keep what I have.

  6. How cool to be invited to be a board member of your run club. Congrats! I can vouch for you that you've even gone out at 4:15 AM to fit in your run streak run! Your trivia night with friends sounds fun!

  7. What an honor to be invited to be a board member! Your passion certainly shines through and you will be an asset to any club. That trivia night sounds like a blast! It's always a bummer when a fee structure changes, especially when you don't think the same benefit is there.

    1. I’m looking forward to the run club stuff. It’s been fun to have an immediate network upon my relocation last Spring.

    2. That's really cool about becoming a board member! :] I started running again for very, very short distances (basically uphill sprints with Tofu), but it's better than where I was at a couple months ago, so yay for that, haha.

Is it sad that I still haven't seen Elf? :[ (I need to watch it this year...)
