Well hello there, May! So very glad to see you again!
For what it’s worth, I find the month of April painfully frustrating. Instead of easing towards summer, it feels like we’re stuck in a winter purgatory of sorts. Once May hits, though, it feels like summer is within reach.
Alas, as we enter the new month, it’s always a great time to gather for a chitchat session. I’m game, are you?
Since we’re gathering for chitchatting, I’d tell you how April played out for me. Ugh, it was mediocre at best, but not dreadful. I’ve really been struggling with getting the miles logged, via the running shoes. My enthusiasm for the indoor bike has been on a downward spiral as well. At least the walking is picking up, thanks to the gradually warming weather. I’m definitely ready for some warmer weather (sans wind, preferably).
Speaking of biking, if we were gathering for chitchatting, I’d profess my craving for an outdoor bike ride. I’m living a stone’s throw from the Chichaqua Valley Trail trail now, but Krystal’s tires have yet to see it since our move. I haven’t had a chance to get a new tire pump yet, and the wind has been less than forgiving, but still. (Sigh).
Feeling nostalgic for bike season |
If we were gathered for chitchatting, I’d have to lament (yet again #sorry) about the incessant wind. Honestly, I cannot remember the wind being this extreme in a long time, if ever. We’re talking daily sustained mph wind in the mid-upper teens, with gusts in the 20-40mph range at times.
Please someone, anyone, make it stop! |
With my new commuting situation, I’ve been bringing my lunch most days (since driving home isn’t a feasible option). I’ve been eating at my desk, while working, then walking over my official lunch break. It’s a triple win with the fresh air, downtime from the computer, and bonus walking miles.
Please excuse the dorky Crocs; they’re comfy and have great arch support |
Finally, if we were gathered for chitchatting, I’d tell you about last weekend’s glammed-up and glitzed-out occasion. I got this dress for the oldest daughter’s college graduation, in 2016. I didn’t realize how much bigger my biceps have gotten in the past eight years, LOL. I dress-fess the sleeves were feeling kinda tight! It was a fun time with numerous friends for a wedding, though (and look closely, I left the Garmin at home).
Yes, I was afraid to flex… |
Alrighty then, I've had the floor long enough. Your turn...what would you bring to the table, if we were gathered for some chitchatting?
Have you been fighting the wind, more than usual, this spring? If you're into cycling, have you been outdoors on the streets/trails yet? How did your April play-out, in terms of fitness?
Since it's the first weekend of the month, I'm linking this with Deborah and Coco for the Ultimate Coffee Date.
Gotta love it when "your clothes don't fit" because of your biceps! You forgot to include all of the time that you spent moving house in your fitness stats for the month;-)
ReplyDeleteHappy May! I'm so happy that summer is back.
Yes, bring on summer!!!!!
DeleteYes! We have that same wind, seemingly all the time and I am over it. Hooray for bigger biceps! Haha!
ReplyDeleteThe too-tight sleeves caught me off guard, LOL. I was lifting back when I got the dress (had been for several years actually), but I guess there's been some growth in the past eight years, ha!
DeleteI love the dress. The sleeves don’t look tight in the photo, but I hate that feeling.
ReplyDeleteYou’ve had so much going on in April, it’s no wonder you don’t feel energized for running/cycling. I’m sure your mojo will be back soon.
I have some energy, just not as much as usual. And, I've been trying to adjust to my new schedule (with my work commute), so there are a few kinks that are getting fine-tuned. It's a work in progress ;-)
DeleteYou look fabulous and hope you had a great time all dressed up! Bigger biceps is a good thing! I am also using my indoor bike less and doing more walking. Mixing it up is good. May already feels like summer here too fast. Hope you settle into your new routine this month
ReplyDeleteThe routine is still a work-in-progress, but I'm getting there ;-)
DeleteWe've had more wind than usual here, but I think you would call ours a light breeze compared to what you get!
ReplyDeleteIt must have been all the shoveling, packing and moving that made your biceps too big for the dress! Seriously- it looks great on you.
Yes, you're probably happy to move on to May! I remember Aprils in the midwest, filled with so much promise and disappointment. May should be better!
May has already been much better! Now, if the wind would just mellow-out for a few (or several) months...
DeleteAww, I hope actual-spring will come by now for you! I keep meaning to walk during lunch but always just end up working through it instead. :[ I need to do better.
ReplyDeleteThat's a gorgeous dress -- I love the color! I have several articles of clothing I really love that I (sadly) can no longer fit because of my shoulders, haha. :[
I'm glad to have figured out the lunch time walking thing!
DeleteThe wind has been pretty steady here too - and I need it to stop!
ReplyDeleteThe dress looks great on you - and bigger biceps are a bonus :)
The wind has simply been relentless and rude. Hoping it lightens up some as the weather warms up.
DeleteThis spring seems much windier than normal for me, too. Of course, I was walking instead of running so I was out longer and that could have made a difference. Also, last year I didn't get on my outdoor bike until mid-May because I was inside working on my painting projects.
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping you can get out cycling soon!
Gotta love those bulging biceps! Hard work pays off. :-)
I think you look gorgeous in that dress! Never be afraid to flex! After our tornado, we haven't had to much wind. I'm ok with that.
ReplyDeleteSame here with the wind and I am over it. That is a beautiful dress! I like your lunch plan. You still get to eat and exercise during lunch.
