Well, how do you like the heat?
Most know I’m a fan of all things summer. The calendar now says “Fall,” but I’ve been basking in all kinds of Summer.
Even when the temps are toasty, I’m still taking my “coffee” hot, LOL. And, let me clarify, by “coffee,” I’m drinking foo-foo cappuccinos (and not actual coffee).
Alas, we have a new month in front of us. There’s no better time than now to gather for a coffee talk.
Shall we?
At our coffee talk, I’d start with my September stats. I’m happy with all my numbers. The weather was a bit sketchy, earlier in the month, so I wasn’t able to get out on the bike trail as much as I’d preferred, but did do a few longer rides on the spin bike. Running saw its second highest amount in almost a year (May had 87). And walking was stellar!
At our coffee talk, I’d bring up the weather (with joy!). As mentioned, the summer season has been extended, and that means more time in sweaty tank tops, messy headbands, and water on-the-go for some of the runs. No complaints!
At our coffee talk, I’d feel the need to whine a bit about the biking miles. Although the mileage was nice, September saw a lot of indoor miles on the spin bike. Gulp. We’re talking 61 outdoor miles compared to the 89 indoor ones. Sadly, those outdoor miles are probably going to be even less in October…
At our coffee talk, I’d tell you that I’m bringing back the daily push-ups! I had a substantial streak going (for a couple years, I believe), and somehow I got out of that daily routine. I can’t even remember when it happened (I’m guessing it was maybe in the spring or early summer). I’m only a week or so in, but already they are feeling easier than they were on Day-1.
Finally, at our coffee talk, I’d have to share a big fat coffeefession: I still cannot stand the taste of coffee, LOL. A month ago, or so, I made the commitment to give coffee a chance, and it’s been a fail. I’ve tried hazelnut blends, caramel-lover’s roast, and I have added sugar and/or cream (often three “mini cups”) to no avail. As heavenly as that steaming cup smells, it still tastes like …coffee. Honestly, I cannot taste a difference when the sweeteners are added or if I drink it black (gag!). I’m still forcing it down on occasion (for the caffeine, not the flavor), but I really don’t see myself morphing into a coffee connoisseur. And I‘m alright with that.
If we were gathered together, what would you share with the group? And, more importantly, what would you be drinking?
Since it's the first weekend of the month, I'm linking this with Deborah and Coco for the Ultimate Coffee Date
If coffee is not for you, then coffee is not for you. You gave it a fair shake! I love it dearly, but it is an acquired taste.
ReplyDeleteYes, sadly our incredible weather streak will end and we'll be back inside. But that day is not today!
Yeah, the coffee gig just ain’t happening for me….
DeleteSummer has returned with a vengence here and I have to say I'm not loving it lol - I want fall weather!
ReplyDeleteI think our summer is officially ending…it plummeted to temps int he mid-50’s today. BRRRR!
DeleteI don't like coffee either! But I do like caffeine, in the form of black tea. To each his own...
ReplyDeleteSelfishly, i wish it would get cold for you guys (sorry!) because it can't cool off down here until it's cold up there. We usually see a bit of a cool down by the third week of October, and I'm waiting impatiently for that.
Yay for the pushups- they're a great exercise to do daily! I'm wondering if you always do them with your hads on dumbbells (as in the photo?) I can't do pushups with my hands flat down because it hurts my wrists too much. Maybe I need to find an alternate way.
I vary the push-ups…I do them the “standard” way most of the time, but doing them with dumbbells does give some relief to the wrists. I think I have better range of motion as well (I think my arms have a weird shape, so doing the “strict” ones are a huge challenge for me).
DeleteYou really had some good walking miles in September! Summer really did seem to hang on in September. This week we're having nice days, but really cool evenings.
ReplyDeleteAs you know, I'm not a fan of coffee either. I just can't do the bitter...
Agreed! Coffee is SO bitter! My sweet tooth just cannot handle it, LOL.
DeleteCoffee is so polarizing! But you don't have to love it! You have other drinks and routines that feel great for you! And you'll always be welcome to the coffee date, regardless of what you're drinking!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're still having summer, but I wish you would take what's left of ours. We are currently on the edges of this double hurricane situation (no threat to us other than wind and rain and some flooding) but it's certainly ruining my motivation.
Great miles. You'll get those bike ones back!
Hurricane season use be so scary!
DeletePush ups are great for all of us! You had some fab stats this month. Hope you get a few more outdoor rides this month
ReplyDeleteI’m hoping for a a few remaining outdoor rides, but it’s not looking too promising. The cooler temps, and crazy wind, just are not biking-friendly.
DeleteKudos to you for getting back to the pushups. You will not regret that! Coffee is not for everyone and that is perfectly ok!
ReplyDeleteI’m looking forward to getting back to the push-up routine!
DeleteNice work with the push-ups! I still don't know if my daily push-ups caused my shoulder problem and probably will never know, but I'll refrain from daily-anything (except walking) in the future just to be on the safe side.
ReplyDeleteCoffee isn't for everyone! It's a particular taste, and I never liked coffee until I went to Italy and tasted a real cappuccino with coffee from a real machine that doesn't filter away all the flavours. Now I can also enjoy a good pure espresso but only in Italy, elsewhere I always take a flat white/cortado.
Your coffee experience sounds interesting! I haven’t done much experimenting, but I’m on the verge of just accepting it’s not for me.
DeleteThere’s no need to like coffee. I feel the same way about tea, although I do like chai.
ReplyDeleteIt’s hard to get outdoor cycling miles when there’s less daylight, but you’ve done some solid rides.
I usually end up doing push-ups a few days a week. The cue to think of them as a moving plank really helps!
Yeah, I totally rocked the spin bike, LOL! I’d much rather be outdoors, but I’m glad I do have the indoor option.
