Holy Yikes, it done got cold this week!
I’m really glad there’s a virtual coffee meet-up on the roster. The conversation may be happening on a virtual basis, but my drink is real and it’s warm, sweet and oh-so-soothing.
Shall we get this ultimate coffee date started?
At our coffee meet-up, I’ll begin with sharing my November stats. Is it obvious there was some time-off from the running shoes? Not only have I been scaling-back the running (giving that cranky hip region some recovery time), but I also am taking a sabbatical from the annual winter run streak. All is well, and I’m not missing it (much), but I do feel a bit out-of-sorts. I’ve been keeping plenty active with the daily lunchtime walks (via the skywalk) at work. I have also been hitting the spin bike more than usual (which actually feels really good on said cranky hip region).

At our coffee meet-up, I’d also tell you about a recent revelation. Last spring, I bought a set of 20-pound dumbbells. Buying them was a workout in itself because I had to grab each from the high shelf, carry them through the store, wait in line to pay for them, then carry them out to my car. By the time they found their “home” in my designated workout corner of the basement, my arms were burning. Well, just recently, I noticed one of them looked lighter in color than the other. I thought it odd that one was fading in color while the other didn’t appear to be following suit. Upon closer inspection, I realized they were two (slightly) different styles! Thankfully, they both weigh the same.
At our coffee meet-up, I’d confess a near-panic attack. Last weekend, I’d just finished a 25-mile bike ride. It wasn’t until after saving the workout on my Garmin, that I realized I’d accidentally had my watch in “walk” mode. There was a 40K Biking badge up for grabs, and I was worried I’d never get credit for it (I know, #FirstWorldProbs). After editing the workout, from “walk” to “indoor cycling,” all was well, and the coveted 40K badge magically appeared, LOL…though I’m not sure why the workout map looks so jumbled, because I did not go anywhere.
At our coffee meet-up, I’d share what I discovered in my laundry room this week. I jokingly call my laundry room the houseplant hospital, as that’s where all the misfits go while “in recovery.” I’d stashed my Easter Lily there, sometime over the summer and had forgotten about it. Imagine my surprise when I noticed it had come back to life! I’ve never had this happen before, so it’ll be interesting to see if it actually blooms again. Stay tuned.
Finally, at our coffee meet-up, I’d admit to another Full Moon Run Thursday evening. The temps were bitterly cold (in the Fahrenheit teens, with low single-digit feels-like conditions), and some of the streets and sidewalks were still snow and ice-laden. But, the moon was so beautiful! Even with the wind, I wasn’t as cold as I’d anticipated, so this run was a success. It was only appropriate the December full moon is called the Cold Moon…because it was, quite literally!
Anyways, I’ll step aside and let someone else have the floor. Besides, I’m due for a refill.
Are you up for a coffee meet-up? What’s in your cup? Have you ever hit the wrong setting on your watch, and didn’t catch it until after the fact? Ever bring a seasonal plant back to life? Did you see the Cold Moon?
Since it's the first weekend of the month, I'm linking this with Deborah and Coco for the Ultimate Coffee Date

Yes to that moon! Wow it was so big. You are so good about getting outside in the cold. I haven't run outside since it started snowing here last week because it's so dark when I get up and I can't see where the ice is! I need to just be brave and get out there.
ReplyDeleteI've had the "neglect it and watch it grow" situation happen with a Christmas cactus. I had it for years and it never bloomed, and then I learned that you're supposed to keep them in a cool dark place during the summer months. Once I figured that out I had a happy cactus.
ReplyDeleteYes, I saw the moon this morning and thought of you, as always!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny that you didn't notice those weights were different for so long! I mean- it doesn't matter as long as they're both 20 pounds. And yes- that would be quite a workout. I need a pair of 20 pounders- I better make sure my upper body is strong enough to get them through the store and home.
The moon last night was amazing! I was wondering if you made it out for a run - it was oh so cold!
ReplyDeleteThat skywalk at your new(ish) office sounds like it was made for you. So nice to have for mid day breaks. Do you have any walking friends to join you yet? The moon has been pretty lately!
ReplyDeleteYes I sure did see that very cold moon! Glad your got your FM run done. I have 3 orchids right now that bloomed beautifully for a long time but are all now dormant. One is sending up a new stem so I am hopeful. How nice of your Easter Lilly to start sprouting again!
ReplyDeleteArgh! Finishing 25 bike miles only to see “walk mode” on the screen is brutal! That would have sent me into Zone 5 immediately!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that you got the badge after the edit. Those little digital trophies shouldn’t matter… yet they absolutely do!
Missed the moon but it sure was cold.
ReplyDeleteI'm sticking to succulents. They're a=hard to kill.
