Yeah, here we are again!
It’s already that time of the month, when we humbly gather at the ‘fessional and spill it. Most of these ‘fessions (at least mine) are merely first world probes at best, but they still need disclosing. You know, for pace of mind and all that.
So, shall we get this ‘fession party started?
Here are mine:
For starters, can I express my frustration with the late spring weather this year? Granted, there’s no longer any threat of snow, but Momma N has not been playing nice. She’s incessant on keeping the wind a-blowing (and it’s not just a gentle breeze most days). She also seems to think October-ish temps are perfection. I gotta weatherfess, I really (like really) want seasonal temps. Please, and thank you.
Speaking of the weather, getting back out on the bike has been a bit of a crap shoot ordeal, LOL. Even if the temps feel adequate for running or walking, they can feel downright frigid on a bike. I will bikefess, though, fighting double-digit wind gusts does work ones core (maintaining balance while keeping vertical) and it does further strengthen ones legs with the added wind resistance. At least I’m not stuck inside on the spin bike, so there’s that. Water bottle half-full.
While it didn’t work-out (logistically) to ride any of RAGBRAI last summer, there are plans in the works to ride at least one day of it this year. That said, I made the grave mistake of pulling-up the website, and caught a glimpse (actually several) of the 2025 gear. Big mistake. I already have nine biking tops (jerseys and tanks) in my arsenal, but now I want even more. I’ll RAGBRAIfess it here and now, the odds are really good those nine jerseys and tanks will have a few new companions before summer’s end.

It’s no secret I have a great deal of patriotism, and am not afraid to don the red, white and blue on certain holidays. During Memorial Day Weekend, I made certain to pay tribute. There was a 10-mile run Saturday morning, an early morning walk on Sunday, a 25-mile ride Sunday afternoon, a 2-mile run Monday morning, and another 25-mile ride Monday afternoon. Not pictured are the “street clothes” outfits from all three days, LOL. Whew! With my laundry room as my witness, I runfess that I have no regrets, though I was starting to run out of options by Monday evening.

Finally, I have the DAM-to-DSM Half Marathon happening Saturday morning. This will be my 18th time running this fun race. I almost did my usual glutes/legs strength work Thursday morning, then remembered it probably was in my best interest to take a pass. I’ve been doing some new lower-body workouts, and I never know if I’ll have the DOMS hitting me or not, or how long they’ll stick around. While I don’t have any lofty finish time goals for D2D, I really don’t want any additional discomfort plaguing me for 13.1 miles if I can avoid it. Just let me DAMfess that I have no FOMO in skipping the lower-body workouts this week. That’s my story and I’m sticking with it.
Ahhh, all better! I’m now ready for June to arrive. Who knows what adventures are awaiting (and the run fessions that will result).
Your turn: What would you share with the group?
I'm linking this with Marcia for the monthly Runfessions link-up
By the way...are you following me on social media?
RAGBRAIfession accepted! 😅 Flashy gear has a way of pulling you in, even when the closet says otherwise.
ReplyDeleteOne day or seven, sounds like you’re gearing up in every sense. Let us know which new jerseys make the cut!
Aw yiss!!! Let's fire up the 'fessional! Things are just a little chilly here, and back in my running days I would have been in absolute heaven. For the run/walk game, things are a little chilly so if I was doing my workouts outside I'd have to dress a little warmer. Instead I've been having temper tantrums and opting for the treadmill over the outside. In my defense I get plenty of outdoor time hiking and biking, but for my weekday workouts I've been keeping it inside.
ReplyDeleteI too am WAY over these sub-par temps. Bring on SPRING and SUMMER already! Love all of your patriotic gear. I've been on the hunt for a patriotic coffee mug and I dare say I found it. Yay!
ReplyDeleteI am a fan of the fun bike singlets-glad you are going to get to ride it this summer. Our spring started so warm but the last 2 weeks have been yucky with lots rain. Not so inviting! Have fun at he race this weekend!
ReplyDeleteI put everything I wash in the dryer. No issues.
ReplyDeleteI love how your outfits are so bright.
Our weather has been awful... it seems to be nice on my rest days but of course, for each race or long run, race is predicted. Yup for my 18th run for women 5k, it will rain. Boo.
Yes, please to spring, but let's not jump right into hot and humid summer. I also 'fess that I love donning the stars and stripes during our patriotic holidays.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm over here, wishing for winter to return. Can't wait to see which jerseys you pick!
