A Fall-Like Blowout

 Can you say WIND?

If so, you'll have a solid grasp on how this week played out for me. We're talking chilly temps, intermittent rain, and all kinds of stuff blowing through the air and against my face.

Yes, there's a reason (actually, several LOL) I don't particularly like the fall season, and this week's weather was at the top of the list. It is what it is, right? Besides, if we didn't have some cruddy weather, we probably wouldn't appreciate the truly beautiful days.

Trust me, I had that mantra on repeat this week...

Favorite Quick HIIT Fixes

It's been said that time is of the essence...

The thing is, time is (often times) in limited supply for many of us. We all have the same 24 hours each day, and we all have the same seven days each week. Those days and hours, though, have a tendency to get loaded down with work, family, and household obligations.

Sneaking in a workout, or even some personal time, can be a struggle.

It's those really busy days when I turn to an old standby...HIIT!

Stuck Inside - No Need to Hide

Have you ever been stuck inside and needing a fitness fix?

Hey, it happens. Sometimes, the outdoor conditions just aren't in our favor. It may be too hot, too cold, too icy, or just too dangerous (I'm looking at you, lightening). We cannot control the weather, but that doesn't mean we have to be victims of it.

If you're looking for some ideas on at-home entertainment, via working-out, maybe I can help you out. Here are a few blog posts from the archives...

Spring? Is that you?

I'm just gonna go ahead and say this out loud....I believe Spring is officially here to stay!

What's more, this next week is forecast to have summer-like temps. Thank you, Momma N!

A lot of our blossoming trees have shed their colorful petals. Many of the summer perennials are filling in. And, just a couple days ago, I could smell the sweet scent of lilacs in the air.

Yes, as the weather took a solid turn for the warmer, I was able to #optoutside everyday. There was all kinds of daily walking, legit cross-training, and the running felt pretty sweet as well.

Little Bit of Everything HIIT Workout

I'll say it again....HIIT me up!

Not everyone's a fan of HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training). Some have never tried it, some may be scared of it, and some simply have other preferences for cardio. And that's okay.

Myself? It's totally changed my game as a runner and as an athlete.

HIIT'ing at Home

Being the runners that we are, we run.

Running is what we know. It makes us feel good, physically and mentally. And, especially in our current Safe-at-Home reality, it gets us out of the house.

That said, a runner cannot (usually) succeed on running alone. Eventually, the “running muscles” will burnout if not given some rest and/or enhancement from other sources.

Enter: the HIIT option

All is Well that ends Well

All is well that ends well, especially in terms of the weather!

But, Holy Brrr, Batman...we had to wait for it.

A Winter "Wonder" Land

Ever wonder, really wonder, exactly what season is happening outside?

Well, this was such a week. It was cold. It was windy. There was fog. And rain. And more snow. But, there was sunshine. And it got warm.

Talk about your "wonder"land.

5 Fitness Hacks, Courtesy of the Stairs

The stairs have it and they’re waiting for you.

What’s that, you say? The stairs?

I’m always looking for new or creative ways to work-out at home. I’ve come to realize a stairway is a pretty decent “fitness hack,” all on its own.

Care to hear why?

Winter: We got this!

And, so it begins.

Another month, that is. It's hard to believe we're already a full month (and two days) into 2020.

Although February is pretty much a repeat of January, in terms of cold weather, it doesn't usually seem as painful. Granted, it's a shorter month, but it's also that much closer to Spring and warmer days ahead...eventually.

Yes, It Just Might Be Winter!

Lest there be any doubt, I do believe Winter is officially here for awhile.

As much as I'd like to avoid it completely, it's my Iowa reality. At least now, after this week's crazy weather antics, I can just settle in for the season.

So far, it hasn't been too treacherous....

Five 4 Friday - Current Hashtags

How do YOU feel about hashtags?

Do you use them? Abuse them? Roll your eyes at them? Or, do you get a good laugh at a few random clever ones sprinkled into an Instagram post?

It's no secret that I use them frequently, and not just on Insta. They have a way of revealing a bit more insight into a story or situation, without any unnecessary words or sentences. Although not always grammatically correct, they are a unique nuance to modern day vocabulary.

Plyo-Infused Stair Workout

We all love fast and furious workouts, right?

Well, this will get your heart pumping and test your leg strength. It may also have you questioning your sanity and sweat capacity.
