Am I blue?

Question: Am I blue?

Answer: No, but a lot of my recent race swag is. And that's what I'll be wearing this spring.

Why?
1 - It's a fun color (besides, black is so overdone)
2 - I have a plethora of options (long-sleeve, short-sleeve, shirts, jackets, and even cotton options!)
3 - Blue is a color that goes with almost any other color
4 - It doesn't absorb as much heat from the sun as black does
5 - It's one of my favorite "neutral" colors

This all started last June, when I ran the local Grinnell Games Half Marathon. I'm a color gal, and I was very excited to see the pretty blue event shirt (in tech fabric, none the less). Little did I know, that was the start of an interesting blue ride...because a few weeks later, I ran the Sully Freedom Fun Run 5K, and a week after that, I ran the Grimes Farm Run. And, more blue shirts were added to my collection.

Fast forward to September...I ran the Park to Park Half Marathon. That race also rewarded me with a matching blue hat as well as the awesome long-sleeved race shirt.

A few weeks later, I ran the Quad Cities Marathon (on a relay team) and also the Half Marathon...and, more blue swag...

In November, I headed to Tulsa, OK for the Route 66 Marathon and 5K...and the 5K shirt and the marathon jacket were both blue.

Alas, this blue trend didn't end in 2016. In March, I ran the Wintrust Lakefront 10-miler in Chicago...and brought home another blue jacket.

Just this past weekend, I ran in the Live Healthy Iowa 5K, and received (yet) another blue event shirt. I'm currently training for Grandma's Marathon (June), and as part of the early bird registration, I received a 2017 training jacket....and it's also blue! Rest assured, I have no misgivings wearing this training jacket now...I've run Grandma's before (in 2015), and I know you do not receive the official marathon shirt until after you've crossed the finish line.

So, there you have it (them?).... 20 events in the past 10 months, and 10 of  them came with blue swag. What do you think of my blue collection?  Have you ever received a lot of race gear in the same (or similar) colors in a short period of time?

***If you're interested in reading any of the recaps from these races, most of them are linked on my Let's Race! page---> here.

I'm linking this with Meranda and Lacey and Rachel for the Friday Five 2.0. The theme this week is spring...so I'm talking fashion.

I'm also linking with Nicole for her  Fit and Fashionable Friday link-up.

  4. Very blue indeed! I was just noticing the other day as I planked in the pain cave that most of my medal ribbons are blue, with orange a close second. I have friends who always race in stealth black and I tried it a few times, but I have to say I prefer color. Hi-viz!

  5. I have about 3 blue race tees, I think. A couple of long sleeved race tees, too. But that's from several year's racing.

I do love blue. And purple, and pink, and teal . . . I love colors!

  6. I like blue but I wouldn't like to have a ton of the same color race shirts in such a short period of time.
