Those being said, there’s a few things to bring to the ‘Fessional before the month winds down. Care to join me?
Okay, first things first. I am totally giddy with all the March Madness hoopla (see what I did there?). Not only did my Iowa Hawkeyes make it to the Sweet 16, but so did two other favorite teams. One such team is the Michigan State Spartans, who historically are pretty strong tournament contenders. After all, they did win the Championship in 2000, when we were living in the East Lansing area (hence the small crush I’ve had on them ever since). The other team may come as a surprise, but it’s our inner-state rival, the Iowa State Cyclones. They not only have had a fantastic 29-7 season (ahem, beating the Hawks this year), but both daughters are ISU grads, so I do have a significant financial “tie” to them. I gotta fanfess, it’s hard not to be excited for all three teams! BTW, as this goes to press, The Hawks earned their ticket to the Elite Eight with a win over the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Thursday evening!
The March full moon was MIA, thanks to several consecutive days of heavy fog and cloud cover. After several failed attempts at logging a full moon run, I had to wave the white flag and settle for a selfie with a streetlight poser. I’ll moonfess it here and now, the April 2nd full moon better not disappoint.
Iowa (and much of the Midwest) was treated to a fabulous heatwave last weekend. Saturday’s afternoon temps soared above the 90F mark, and felt like total bliss to my summer-loving self. I need to heatfess the only thing better would have been to have said temps for my 7-miler that morning.
Speaking of my long run last weekend, the morning temps weren’t those (yet) of sumner, but the sunrise was everything. It’s been a hot minute (actually, several minutes), since I’ve seen a sunrise in my running shoes. Even though we’re barely a week into the spring season, let me sunfess, that sunrise made me SO eager for summer to get here.
Finally, most know my annual Week of Pi (recap) has come and gone for 2026. In all honesty, I can’t say it was my easiest (or fastest) Pi running endeavor, but the week played-out much better than anticipated. In fact, it was a downright windy week, and I had some doubts after Day-1. As each daily run was checked-off, though, the momentum (and my enthusiasm) sustained me. I even had a couple of runs that showed faster paces than intended, with no residual aches, pains, or niggles. I can runfess, without a doubt, this seventh installment of the annual Week of Pi was a success.
So, that’s all the ‘fessing I have time for now. I’ve said all that needs ‘fessing, and my soles (literally) have been cleansed. Bring on April!
You’ve heard my ‘fessions, do you have any to share?
I’m linking this with Marcia for the monthly Runfessions link-up

Oh, that's a shame that you couldn't get a full moon pic in March. Now April 2 is officially under pressure. Hopefully no fog or clouds!
ReplyDeleteI just googled on the "pink moon" and apparently, the name comes from early spring wildflowers (phlox) that bloom around this time, not the moon’s colour. Which isn't what I expected but we'll take it!
Not to worry, you'll soon have the warm temps for all of your runs! And the sunrise! Bye bye winter, you were fun but we're not gonna miss you.
ReplyDeleteOh, I was excited for an actual pink moon, but then I read Catrina's comment above. Oh well!
ReplyDeleteYes I'm excited for March Madness! We'll have some fun games this weekend. I'll root for your teams since my teams are all out of it.
Enjoy your spring weather! You definitely paid your dues this winter.
Wait: It was 90 in Iowa? Amazing. We didn't even get close to 70 and now it's freezing again. How fun to have 3 teams to cheer for!
ReplyDeleteWe have had those same crazy temp swings here as well. March is always crazy like that! College sports are so much fun especially when your fave teams are in!
ReplyDeleteYay, your three favorite teams gave you a Sweet 16 trifecta in the NCAA tournament!
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping the weather cooperates for you for April's full moon!
Bring on summer... but not the humidity! ;-)
