Here we are.
A new month is off and running, which means it’s time to gather (virtually), grab a mug (real or otherwise), and have some conversation. I mean, the weather’s turning cold, so why not make the best of it among friends?
If we were gathered (virtually), I’d start the chatting with an October stat-share. There was a half marathon happening, as well as a couple long runs in the weeks prior. There also was a week of recovery, LOL, so the total miles are nice but nothing stellar. Biking was substantial, but most of those miles were via the spin bike. Walking dominated, though… most likely the result of that recovery week, when running was somewhat minimal.
If we were gathered (virtually), I’d tell you how much I have been enjoying my outdoor lunchtime walks. The air has been fresh and the temps have felt amazing! Even the downtown Des Moines traffic hasn’t been too crazy when I’ve been hoofing it over the noon hour. On a side note, those weather conditions changed this week, and not in a pleasant way, LOL!
If we were gathered (virtually), I’d give due praise to the recent sunrises (and sunsets). One such sunrise, as I was waiting my turn at the traffic light, was totally captivating! The clouds, along the horizon, resembled mountains in the distance. And how about that display of color!
If we were gathered (virtually), I bring up the subject of peanut butter-filled pretzels again. On a whim, I bought a tub of the Reese’s version of these little crunchy pieces of heaven. Wow, they really do taste like the candy bar (minus the chocolate). While I do like the Reese’s ones, I kind of prefer the store brand versions a tiny bit more. Those are the ones I have a stash of in my work desk, kitchen cabinet, and car. No regrets!
Finally, if we were gathered (virtually), I have to confess a rather embarrassing thing I did recently. I bought this adorable Halloween-themed planter, more for the plant than for spooky decorating. I’d been diligently watering the plant, making sure to keep the soil moist (I’d had a plant just like it years ago, and know it didn’t like dry soil. Imagine my surprise, upon closer inspection, the majority of the plant is fake! There is a tiny real plant, underneath all the brightly colored leaves, but it’s pretty itty bitty. Alas, I shall keep watering it, with care, and I’ll be watching for the baby plant to grow more.
Finally, if we were gathered (virtually), I’d tell you about a really fun (and unique) fall-themed event we recently attended. A local winery had a Cider and Dessert Pairing event a couple of weeks ago. Oh, was the cider amazing and the desserts were SO delish! Our server told us they were going to have a holiday-themed one as well, so Scott and I will be on the lookout for that as the holiday season unfolds.
Well, I’ve had the floor one enough, and I’m about due for a frothy refill of my hazelnut cappuccino.
What has been happening in your world? What would you share if we were gathered (virtually) and chatting?
Since it's the first weekend of the month, I'm linking this with Deborah and Coco for the Ultimate Coffee Date

Noooooo please don't tell me that the weather has changed in a not pleasant way. We've had such an incredible streak of good weather. It's been nothing short of amazing and I feel like I've been outside more in the past few weeks than I have all year.
ReplyDeleteThe cider and dessert pairing sounds amazing.
