How about a re-introduction of sorts? ...maybe with some of my favorite #hashtags?
I've been participating in a fabulous blog hop (hosted by Kristy at Runaway Bridal Planner ), and today is my day to shine (so to speak). I'll spare you a lengthy monologue about all of my likes, traits and quirks. Instead, I'll give you some of the basics, and highlight some previous blog posts (via links) that will give you more of the nitty-gritty details of what I'm all about.
So, here you go....Some #Kimtrivia (but were afraid to ask for...):
***I'm an #Iowarunner (Shocker, I know). Care to know more? Here's the blog post that best says it all.... (Almost) all about me (It's really hard to re-write my story any better than the first version).
Approaching the 11th mile at the 2012 Dam to Dam (Des Moines, IA) |
moments after finishing the IMT Des Moines marathon...with the beautiful State Capital in the background |
You wouldn't know we'd just spent over six hours in constant motion through the night.... |
Yep, single digit temps on race day.....bring it! |
***I'm a self-proclaimed #artgeek. Sidewalk chalk is but one of my mediums (I also knit, draw and paint). Care to see more? ...My Driveway is my Canvas
This is how I announced it to the world when I decided to do a marathon |
it's usually pretty easy to spot me on race day... |
***I have been known to geek out on #accessories (and not just in my running clothes).
***I have the most adorable, sweetest, and smartest dog. Ever. #MaxtonMcArthur
This is Max, our family's first dog. We adopted him from a nearby shelter a year ago. I think he loves me as much as I love him. |
***I've been married for 25-1/2 years, and we have three awesome kids (who aren't really kids anymore) #familyfirst #proudmom
I have saved every bib from every race I have run....(#runnerprobs)
Anything else you'd like to know?
You can also find me on Facebook (Running on the Fly ) or Instagram ( runningonthefly ) Stop by and say, "Hello!"
I love how creative you are! I'm still hoping to do an Iowa race with you this summer. Let's see how I feel after Big Sur!
ReplyDeleteDam to Dam registration opens up soon...usually mid-March ;-) (ahem...race day is June 4th...) ;-)
DeleteI need to find something creative to do with my race bibs...I keep all of mine too.
ReplyDelete#ManningProblems is one of my favorite hashtags :-)
Great to meet you through the blog hop!
This is actually an "old" pic from Dec. 2014...so there's another 17(?) on a brand new binder clip ;-) I have thought about having them fanned out (like in the pic) and matted/framed by year.
DeleteNice to see you in the blog hop Kim! I always thought you were an ultrabadass :) I love all the colors you always have in your pics. Great hashtags
ReplyDeleteThanks! I get a little crazy with the hashtags sometimes.... ;-)
Deletelove the #GoBrightOrGoHome! i tend to stick to black but im starting to add color! thank goodness more and more running clothes/accessories come in great bright colors!
ReplyDeleteIt's only in recent years the tights have been available in more than just black....at least where I'm living. I hope it's along time before they go out of style because I have a fun collection ;-)
DeleteYes I want to see more of your sidewalk chalk art! I haven't seen it lately, oh wait did I miss some, please say NO! Kim I have enjoyed so much getting to know you over these past few months. I especially love our weather related taunts, and just for the record I'll get you back when it starts warming up enough to melt you down here! I love your quirky colorful pictures and personality! :)
ReplyDeleteDid you click on the link about? (My Driveway is my Canvas)...You haven't seem much sidewalk art lately because there's been this white, slushy stuff covering my driveway (we call it snow) ;-)
DeleteI love color in my running clothes. I'm not adventurous with my work clothes, but I love bright and festive colors when I workout.
ReplyDeleteI'm kind of color freak in all aspects of my life LOL, but especially in my running shoes ;-)
DeleteLove the color! I can feel your enthusiasm through this post. Nice to meet you!!
ReplyDeleteThanks!! I definitely love my color ;-)
DeleteI am LOVING getting to know you better through the blog hop! I'm so impressed that you've done an Ultra! And I love your accessories and colors! You are so creative, so talented, so fun, and so INSPIRING!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rachel ;-) It's been great meeting so many new (to me) bloggers, and reconnecting with all the others. #bloggersgotgame
DeleteGood to see you in the blog hop! We have a lot in common. I'm stealing Go Bright or Go Home! Yes, I too am spotable in races! I have every race bib except my first (what was I thinking?). It would be so much fun to do an Ultra with friends! Or Ragnar Relay! Your chalk art is quite lovely and very creative. I often raise my hands and the finish line, and then wish I hadn't when I see the photo! LOL.
ReplyDeleteRagnar is definitely on my bucket list (preferable with some of my blogger pals). Could you imagine all the laughter and non-stop chatter? ;-)
DeleteLove this post. I have all my bibs too - don't know what to do with them. Love your outfits. What you wear is important. I'm glad that you agree.
ReplyDeleteWould love to race with you...come East.
I'd LOVE to "come East!" (I'm actually headed to Florida next week and have a race on my agenda while there) ;-)
DeleteI think I knew most of these things about you, and loved seeing the pics of your pup and your family, too. <3
ReplyDeleteThanks! It's hard to rewrite "my story" so I tried to put a quirky angle on it with the #hashtags. ;-)
DeleteLook at all those bibs! That is great! You always take great pictures and I admire the fact that you get outside, no matter what!
ReplyDeleteYes, outside is where it's at ;-) It's fun looking through the bibs now and then, I always write my finish time on them. Keeping them on a binder ring doesn't take up much space ;-)
DeleteYou're definitely a BRIGHT lady! #GoBrightOrGoHome
ReplyDeleteha ha...thanks ;-) A little bit of color never hurt anyone, right?
DeleteI have also saved every single one of my race bibs. Maybe someday I'll do something with all of them, but for now, they're sitting in a binder in sheet protectors.
ReplyDeleteI have thought of doing a "fan" (like the one pictured above) for each year I've been running...and mat/frame them into a shadow box. It hasn't happened yet... #staytuned
DeleteGreat to reconnect with you in another Blog Hop! Your pup is so adorable - small dogs are the best for cuddling :) I also totes agree with being more than just a runner - all the extras like cross training only make us stronger!
ReplyDeleteCross training is so important! I'm so glad I caught on to it when I did, or I would have had even more injuries to deal with. And, yes, great to see you again, too ;-)
DeleteYour dog is so adorable! And I'm a fan of the color, especially those arm sleeves :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I forgot to mention it, but the funky turquoise arm sleeves are actually socks that I cut the feet off of LOL I used them as "throwaways" at a half marathon last fall...but loved the colors so much I just couldn't toss them ;-)
DeleteYay for sidewalk chalk! I love all the bright colors too! :] Your dog is crazy adorable, and that's awesome that you've run an ultra! :O! Major props to you!
ReplyDeleteThanks!! I'm going back to the same Ultra in July...and the gals and I are doing the 12-hour endurance event this time #yikeswhatarewethinking
DeleteBest of luck to you, and I hope you have fun! :P It'll be a huge accomplishment for sure!
DeleteI love love love that you're a hashtag woman! :) And each one of these is perfect for you! I'm a color girl too - the brighter the better! I look forward to getting to know you even better because you kinda rock my running world bucketlist! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks!!! Hashtags kinda give a new dimension to self-expression ;-)
DeleteGo bright or go home!!! I love that!!!
ReplyDeleteAn ultra in July...you go girl!
Beautiful family!
Love your #hash tags

#gobrightorgohome is something I apply in all aspects of wardrobe (and otherwise). I forgot to use #blendinginisoverrated LOL
DeleteI'm totally in awe of your ultra!
ReplyDeletethanks! It really was tough, but not so much for the running but for the race conditions (heat, humidity, middle of the night, rain, etc.). I'm glad I had a tribe of pals with me ;-)
DeleteThat is awesome you've saved all your race bibs. Like you I have done the same, I have an idea for a project for them one day if I ever get my own home I'd like a game room downstairs where all my families sports displays can go. I came up with this table idea or a wall idea for them, to use the race bibs for, maybe one day it will happen...
ReplyDeleteI loved your chalk art the first time I found out you did it, so fun!!!
Did you just love the Grandma's Marathon? I really liked that one, beautiful course and I think it was the first race I was cut off by a deer, LOL
Although I had some unique (unexpected) tummy issues, I totally LOVED Grandma's! And we had rain for the first 10 miles or so and fog, but the course was beautiful and there was non-stop crowd support. I totally want to go back ;-)
DeleteI love this idea! I'm also a #colorfreak, and I save all of my race bibs too!
ReplyDeleteIt's fun to sift through my bibs now and then. I always write my finish times on the front, and it's interesting to see my progress and relive some of the memories.
DeleteLove the hashtag idea! Love that you're from Iowa too - my grandparents live in Des Moines, and my parents will soon be moving to Windsor Heights. Lots of cold runs up there I bet! So great to connect with you again via the blog hop!
ReplyDeleteHashtags are fun! Yes, Iowa is kinda cold in the winter, but it's supposed to be 60-degrees today! #heatwave
DeleteI love the hashtags! I also love your IG...I always look forward to your colorful posts!
ReplyDeleteThanks !!! The hashtags are a fun way to say what's on my mind...without really saying it out loud LOL
DeleteSooooo when are you coming to run the Chicago marathon?
ReplyDeleteI'd LOVE to run Chicago....but ugh, the registration is almost triple to what I usually pay ;-( I do love Chi-town, though. The RNR half was so cool (actually it was horribly hot & humid)...I loved seeing all the architecture and having it all to myself for a couple hours ;-)
DeleteLOVE your colors ! And I didn't know you ran an ultra, WOW ! That is an amazing accomplishment. I have never been to Iowa, but I did grow up in Maine and I suspect the weather is pretty much the same. Darn cold !
ReplyDeleteI love the hashtag blog post! That is a brilliant idea. I am totally in awe of the ultra running and stair racing. Both are crazy but way to rock them!!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Only one ultra (so far #staytuned), but the stair running is a different story LOL I love the challenge ;-)
DeleteLove this post! So creative! I love fun #hashtags
ReplyDeleteI have been bravely (for me) adding more color to my running gear this year! So far it is going ok!
I also have all my race bibs..well almost all of them...a few got lost along the way...I have them laminated and put up around my office!
Nice to meet you through the hop :)
That's a great idea with your race bibs! Mine are on binder rings....I have thought of fanning them out (like in the pic) and having them framed....someday ;-)
