How is it almost December already?
My head is still spinning, trying to fine-tune all of my November "stuff," and the month is almost over. Not quite sure how that happened.
Anyways, here's my November in a nutshell:
Fitness for the (daily) win! I continued my early-morning routine of rising and shining in the wee hours. Some days I ran, other days I just did a brisk 20-minute walk through the 'hood. What started as a result of my surgery recovery (July through mid-September), has continued long after my return to running. I think this early morning routine is here to stay.

Fun was all around me. That's what happens when you enjoy doing what you're doing.

My
family was all together for Thanksgiving. With our oldest daughter living in Pennsylvania (and our son away at college), it's rare for all five of us to be under the same roof these days.

There was lots of yummy
food eaten! A few days in Las Vegas, and a big Thanksgiving dinner (with lots of leftovers), has left my tummy very happy.
|
yum! |
Two more
finish lines conquered! I ran the
Hillybilly Hike 10K (November 4th) and the
R'n'R Las Vegas Half Marathon (November 12th). My rally back to running and racing has gone well, and these two races were major milestones for me. I placed 3rd in my age group at the Hike (with my fastest "rally back" pace thus far), and the Vegas half marathon was my longest distance since my recovery.
And, let's not forget running
friends. As I have said more than once, running friends are fantastic, even the ones I've never met in person. Of course, if you're lucky to have them with you at races, all the better.
Last of all, there were my
monthly fitness goals. Oops. For the most part, I did alright. That said, I will disclose that as the month wore on, it got easier (and easier) to procrastinate and all-out forget to do some of them on the daily. Oh well, I'm human.
If I were to rate November, I'd give it high marks. I definitely had a lot of fun, and felt great all month. The temps did get a bit chilly (with the exception of this week), but so far it has remained dry (in other words...no snow yet!).
So, that's my November (in a nutshell). Did your November fly by fast, too? Any goals met? Fun with friends? Finish lines?

November definitely flew by! It sounds like you had a strong month. Its great that you have kept up with all the walking this long after your surgery! I find it so hard to get out for a walk when its dark and cold.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a huge fan of getting out in the dark, but I do like being out in the early hours. It is what it is... ;-)
DeleteYep November flew. Heck this whole year did! It was a treat to see you and run (walk/swear) with you in Vegas. :p
ReplyDeleteWhatsoever is that swearing of which you speak? ;-)
DeleteLooks like it was a fantastic month for you! But wait...we've had snow....
ReplyDeleteI have seen a few flurries blowing around, but nothing has "landed" LOL
DeleteI can't believe it is soon December. It has been unseasonably warm here so that has helped with my runs in November. Unfortunately I think that is all about to change soon.
ReplyDeleteOur unseasonably warm temps have been rather chilly in the mornings, so it's a mix of fall & winter depending on what time of day I get outside.
DeleteHurray for finish lines!! You're back!!!!
ReplyDeleteYes! The finish lines have never felt so good!
DeleteSounds like a great month! That's great that the whole family was able to be together for Thanksgiving :)
ReplyDeleteHaving all of under the same roof was wonderful ;-)
DeleteRnR Las Vegas is one of my bucket list races - looks like a blast!! Glad you had such a great month!!!
ReplyDeleteVegas definitely is a grand adventure in one's running shoes!
DeleteA lot went on in November, and suddenly we're in the last week. I'm looking forward to December though. I'm getting decorations out and listening to Christmas music. It's fun.
ReplyDeleteMy Christmas decorations take an entire week...but that's only because I do a little each day (as my time allows)...that's how they all come down, too LOL
DeleteNovember FLEW by! It's hardly to believe it's nearly December and the end of 2017.
ReplyDeleteSeriously! How did December get here so quickly???
DeleteCongrats on getting back to the half marathon distance. You've done such a great job with smart recovery.
ReplyDeleteThanks!! It feels so good to "be back!"
DeleteI looks like you had a great month!
ReplyDeleteYou know I had fun with friends at my birthday weekend celebration! I just finished my race recap. We had so much fun that I didn't want to miss a thing!
November was pretty stellar...maybe that's why it went so fast?
DeleteYou did have a great month all around-as you say nothing is better than having the family all together. As my kids are older now, this has become even more important to me
ReplyDeleteTotal truth! Having all the kids together is such a blessing ;-)
DeleteSounds like a really great November. You obviously know how to recover well!
ReplyDeleteWell, this was one recovery I really had to do right ;-)
DeleteIt sounds like you had a really great month, kudos! I need to read your Vegas recap, somehow I missed it!
ReplyDeleteNovember was a great month! It just went by too fast...
DeleteVegas was such a great time ;-)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great month for you, my friend! Woohoo!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing week and month! Every day, you just keep getting better and stronger and I have loved watching your progress! Keep it up! December isn't going to know what hit it!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great month!
ReplyDeleteThe last half of my November has completely gone off the rails...gonna focus on the first half :)
I'm so happy for you (and a bit jealous) that you got your whole family together for Thanksgiving. My month flew by too-- and I'm not ready for the whirlwind of December.
ReplyDeleteYour fam looks awesome. And the Hillybilly Hike looks awesome! And congrats on doing your longest distance since recovery. That has got to be a big mental and emotional boost. I did not set November goals - I had a 10lb lifting restriction and no intense exercise that was finally removed this month. So I'll be setting some good December goals for getting back in shape! :-D
ReplyDeleteI know! I can't believe that December is almost here!! You always do the most fun events and I love reading about them!!
ReplyDeleteYou had an incredible month. Your comeback has been absolutely incredible, and I cannot wait to see what December has in store for you.
ReplyDeleteNovember definitely flew by! How is it that tomorrow is December? I hope it is a GREAT one for you.
ReplyDeleteLooks like an awesome month foryou. I cannot believe it is December tomorrow, where does the timego????? YOu have a beautiful family, it's nice you all got to be together for Thanksgiving.
