Refuel. Rehydrate. Replenish. with Ultima Replenisher

When you're feeling #HotHotHot, what you #GotGotGot in the recovery arsenal is paramount.

As runners, and all athletes for that matter, we need to be conscious of not just staying hydrated, but also keeping the electrolytes in check. This is an ongoing situation, but is especially crucial during the warmer months.

Enter Ultima Replenisher!

I was really excited to try this product! While I'm usually pretty diligent about hydration, monitoring the electrolytes is another story. In short, when we perspire, we lose a lot of salt as well as water. Keeping the electrolytes maintained (or, at the very least, replacing them ASAP following a workout) is important..

I have used other electrolyte-replacement products, but I have struggled in finding one that I liked. The Ultima stickpacks were a great solution for me.

Five things I love about this product:

The flavors. OMG, the flavors are incredible! A new feature was the mocktail collection (perfect for summer, wouldn't you agree?). The Appletini was my favorite, but the Coconut Pina Colada and Peach Bellini were pretty delish as well. Total refreshment, following a hot workout!

The texture. Most of the other electrolyte drinks I've tried have been effervescent-type tablets (that usually take forever to dissolve). Myself, I'm just not a fan of "bubbly" drinks, especially if I'm really thirsty. And, once those bubbly drinks get warm (like during a run under the hot summer sun), I find them difficult to swallow. The Ultima beverages all were pretty "smooth" going down, without any of that carbonated essence. Perfection, if you ask me.

The convenience. The stickpacks are so slick! They're slim and easy to tear open. And, they dissolve within seconds, instead of several minutes (like the tablets I'd tried from other product lines).

The simplicity. Honestly, all you need is a 20-ounce bottle, and you're good. I just dumped the powder, from the stickpacks, into plain water, and a few shakes was all it took. These would be great to mix & match the flavors with other beverage options, like juice or even "real" cocktails, with fruit and ice.

The ingredients. The Ultima electrolyte mixes are sugar-free, with no calories or carbs. They're gluten-free, and Paleo/Keto/Vegan-friendly, as well as non-GMO.

Anyways, I think I've found my solution for refueling, rehydration and replenishing.

  2. Mmmm! These sound good- I like those flavors. Recently I've been using LMNT but they're soooo salty. I've just been using half a pack because a full one makes me feel nauseous. Seems like I might like these better- I'll check them out. Thanks!

  4. I hear you on the carbonation! It's why I don't do that sort of electrolyte replacement on the run -- although I have to say I am loyal to Nuun. Still always good to know about other options; thanks, Kim!

    1. I actually like a glass of Pepsi or Coke after a long run (and don't mind the carbonation then), but that's after I've finished running. The others are too hard to swallow if I'm hot and thirsty and still in motion. Besides, "fruited" carbonation is an awkward combo to me LOL

  5. I hate drinking anything but plain water. UGH!!!

But thanks for sharing. I'm sure others appreciated it.

    1. I definitely prefer plain water (most of the time) when I'm running, but these mixes are so tasty and refreshing. They're perfect for re-fueling, but I was pleasantly surprised to find they were also nice to drink while "in motion".

After a workout I use to drink water with potassium and magnesium.

  7. Oh, neat! I really prefer the fizzy stuff. For some reason, I don't like liquids, so bubbly ones make things more interesting for me. I love that there are so many options for hydration!

    1. ha ha...and the fizzy drinks are hard to swallow for me, especially if I'm already breathing hard. But, yes, it's great that we have options so we can all use what works best for us.
