I don't know about anyone else, but I sure could go for a nice frothy hot beverage in these cold weather conditions.
I’m always game for some warm conversation, as well, so how about we combine the two? We’d probably have to gather virtually, but so what? That just means we wouldn’t need to go out, in the freezing wind, to meet-up anywhere. We could just “stay in” and keep comfy on our own virtual couches, while sipping from our favorite mugs and chat to our hearts’ content.
It sounds like a win-win to me…
So, if we were to gather, here are a few things I’d share, with a warm mug in hand…
Fist off, I’d tell you about my December stats. Hmmm. The running was kept to the minimum, even with the RW Winter Run Streak happening. Truth be told, the runs all felt pretty easy, and my enthusiasm never wavered, but the conditions weren’t exactly as ideal as in years past. I blame the unusually cold temps and my crazy work schedule (which didn’t allow for any noontime “runches” nor many weekday runs to take place in the daylight). Walking took a major hit, as well, also a result of the above mentioned factors. But biking, thankfully, saw a very busy month of action!
Next, I’d share the cruel fact that January didn’t waste any time ushering-in the “real” seasonal weather. Granted, we all knew it would eventually be arriving, but still. Let it be known that January 2nd marked the first official weather alert (already) for 2025. Thankfully, we didn’t have blizzard conditions, but it definitely was cold and the white stuff graced the ground.
Another thing I’d mention…after two weeks with mid-week holidays, I am kind of dreading a 5-day work week after this weekend. That said, returning to a more regular schedule will be nice (did I say that out loud?).
Finally, there were a couple more Garmin badges added to the mix. Every now and then, a unique badge pops up (hence the Finish Strong badge). I gotta admit it is nice being rewarded for doing something that (sort of) comes natural (working-out on the daily, even on the final day of 2024). The Strong Start kudos was a nice keepsake, as it signified the end of the Run Streak as well as the start of the New Year.
Indeed, I guess I had a lot to chat about! I think it’s time I grab another warm beverage, and let someone else have the floor.
So, your turn! What would you share, if we were gathering and chatting?
Since it's the first weekend of the month, I'm linking this with Deborah and Coco for the Ultimate Coffee Date
I am definitely all about the hot beverages lately! (Most recently, it's been chai with a little oat milk for me! :] )
ReplyDeleteAh, those badges are both really cute! (Sadly I did not earn either of these badges :[ was working both days and super tired, but maybe next year + I'll just work on consistency for the rest of the year!)
Consistency is a great goal!
DeleteYes it will be nice to return to normal, but also yes if there was a way to do that without the 5 day work week thing, that would be nice. Work has been oof for the past few weeks. Boo.
ReplyDeleteI got my finish strong/strong start badges! I finished strong with an outdoor run/walk and started strong with a hike. Sadly it looks the forecast is going to be "treadmill" for morning workouts for a bit, but I'll be glad to get back outside once the ice goes away.
Happy New Year!!!
My treadmill is still not wanting to play nice…which isn’t THAT big of a deal. Still, it would be nice to at least have it for walking on the really dark mornings/evenings. Oh well, I have numerous other options ;-)
DeleteJanuary is making a loud presence here too after a pretty mild fall. We are due our first big snow storm this weekend. My running stats were way down this year too but my strength is up so all good. It’s good to mix it up
ReplyDeleteYeah, my running numbers are down, but it’s not a deal-breaker. Like you, I have so many other things happening, fitness-wise, it’s not hard to stay busy!
DeleteOh, I figured it must be really cold up there, because we're even getting some of it! We won't see any of the white stuff down here though.
ReplyDeleteI'm always bummed when the holidays are over. It's so hard to get back to normal. School starts next week and I'm not looking forward to the early wakeups again. But- the days are now getting longer, right. Glass half full ; )
Yes, I have already noticed the days getting an itsy bit longer on my commute home ;-)
DeleteReentry is going to be HARD next week. I have a friend coming into town this weekend and I'm not going to want the fun to end!
ReplyDeleteI wish Apple had more badges. I miss the ones from Garmin.
It’s amazing the number of Garmin badges there are up for grabs!
DeleteWinter is definitely making its presence felt - the wind here has been unrelenting and oh so cold!
ReplyDeleteI agree about the full work week ahead - it's going to be an adjustment, but at least I'll finally be able to keep the days of the week straight LOL
Congrats on completing another run streak despite the less than ideal conditions this year.
ReplyDeleteWe had snow all afternoon, but it stopped just as it got dark. We're bracing for Sunday's storm.
We’ve had a pretty mild winter so far, but they are forecasting snow for Monday — we’ll see if it actually shows up!
ReplyDeleteI got those Garmin badges too—and even remembered to look for them. ;-)
Happy new year!
It's gotten pretty cold lately...hate it! At least today the light snow was not slippery.
ReplyDeleteBack to work is always hard, but it will be nice to have a routine again. Those Garmin badges make me laugh. The limit is 250. Umm, do they think I will live to be 250 years old? That white stuff is here and I do not like it one bit.
