Well, well, well.
How is almost December? And how are we back at the ‘fessional, already?
Does time, indeed really fly when you’re having fun? Or just when you’re busy? Both?
Anyways, in keeping with this monthly ritual, I’m gonna lay it out there and share a few ‘fessions with you.
Here goes…
Do you remember all my pretty orchids? The “big” multi-bloomed one is still in full bloom, so that’s all good. The other two, though, have both lost their beautiful blooms and have moved into their respective hibernation phases. It’s all good, though I have to orchidfess the temptation is ever-so-strong to buy another to fill the “blooming void” (but I’m successfully resisting..so far..).

Some of you may have seen that I ran the Des Moines Turkey Trot yesterday. After a warm and beautiful weekend, the temps had been declining. As a result, Thursday’s temps were looking cold! But the sky was also looking sunny. Amazingly, those five miles felt really good after the first mile or so (ahem, it was a long, gradual incline with numerous walkers to zig-zag around). What’s crazy? I gotta trotfess that I didn’t realize I never felt cold until after I’d finished running. That’s right, you heard it here first.
After being in my house for 20 months, I still had not found a place to display all (or most, LOL) of my race medals (I know, #FirstWorldProbs). Just recently, I had the Aha Moment to utilize the dead space by my mirrors in my Sweat Den Down Under (aka, the basement). It’s nothing fancy or chic, but it’ll do for now. This is maybe only a third of my hardware, so it’s still a work in progress. Can I swagfess that I kind of like it?

Lastly, I broke code and put up my Christmas tree last weekend. I typically do it on the Wednesday night, before Thanksgiving. I had some downtime on Sunday, so I thought, “Why not?” Honestly, it’s not a huge tree, so it didn't take long. I want to add some ornaments and more ribbons, so that’s a work-in-progress as well (there’s a lot of that going on). Let me treefess that I’m excited to have my Christmas decorating started!
Okay then. The ‘fessions have been placed before you, my “soles” have been cleansed, and I’m ready for December to make its entrance.
You’ve heard my “fessions, now it’s your turn. Do you have any to share?
I'm linking this with Marcia for the monthly Runfessions link-up

Well done on the Turkey Trot! It sounded like a strong run! The long incline to start off is tough, but at least it gets the system going.
ReplyDeleteI can well understand that you would want to skip the Winter Run Streak this year. With your body still rebuilding, forcing daily pavement miles would be asking for trouble.
Glad you are listening to your body and skipping the streak.
ReplyDeleteI've never streaked... rather avoid injuries but I do try to be active... just not everyday.
I still overdress when it gets cold. and did it again yesterday. When will I learn?
Nope, waiting until next weekend to decorate...
Bravo for doing the run streak your way! With any luck you'll have a fully healed foot for Christmas, which is the best present that you could give yourself.
ReplyDeleteI still have my medals hung up by the fireplace in our back room, and I love them. I have so many good race memories (and a few where the only good thing about the race was the finish line). You earned that bling, and it's only right that you get to enjoy it everyday in your Sweat Den.
Congrats on the turkey trot — I love the swag! I know the medal matches the hat, but with the white background it makes me think of a decorated cookie. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThe only streak I do is my Peloton blue dot streak, and it’s very easy to earn every day. I do prioritize staying active throughout the holidays but don’t need to put MORE stress on myself by making more rules.
Congrats on your Turkey Trot!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wise choice to pass on the streak this year - I'll be doing the #3for31 challenge again in Dec. (3 miles or 30 mins of movement). My legs don't do well with traditional streaking.
I think you are making a great choice! The streak I do allows for running or walking, which is so much less pressure and more manageable. I don't think I would streak if it was running every day, on top of recovery.
ReplyDeleteAwesome showing at your Turkey Trot! Well done!
My tree has bee n up for a week. No shame in that game.
