…and just like that, we’re back at the ‘Fessional.
I swear, summer is flying by at record speed. I’m not fan of this situation, obviously. That said, I’m doing all I can to enjoy every minute of it, no matter the what!
Shall we get this July ‘Fessional gig underway? Read on…
Please forgive me, but I’m bringing another weather ‘fession to the table. Instead of the annoying Iowa wind, though, this time it’s the Iowa humidity that’s having a turn. Granted, I’m a summer gal. I embrace the heat with open arms. I can handle the humidity most days. Recently, though, the humidity has been relentlessly off the charts. Let me weatherfess, if Momma N could lighten-up on all the atmospheric moisture, I’d be most appreciative.
Can we talk about Peloton for a minute? I’ve been a subscribing member for 3-1/2 years now. Although I’m annoyed by the price structure, and the limited access to some of the “exclusive” stuff, I do like the workouts. I have to Pelotonfess, though, that I have lost all interest in keeping a streak going, LOL. For the most part, I do something daily via the app…but on occasion I have let a random day go by unnoticed. My weekly streak, though, is still going strong. I’m totally alright with that.
Recently, a friend told me about her new obsession with avocado toast. I gave it a a try and have to avocadofess that now I’m obsessed as well. I mash the avocado, then mix in some onion powder and Everything Bagel seasoning. Total delish!
I’ve been doing a 30-day Wall Pilates challenge. Granted, I’m not putting in much effort because the moves really aren’t the least bit challenging, so I have admittedly skipped a few days here and there. I just realized, almost three weeks in, that I’d been doing the “Intro to the Basics” classes rather than the Intermediate or Advanced classes. Duh! Can I Pilatesfess that I’m still not very intrigued? I know, #MyBad.
Finally, let’s chat about RAGBRAI! On Thursday, I made my sixth appearance on a RAGBRAI route. This is a weeklong bike ride, sponsored by the Des Moines Register (RAGBRAI is an acronym for the Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa). I rode Day-1 in 2021 (recap), and had a blast. I eagerly returned in 2022 (recap), and rode day-7. I was able to swing riding Days-4,5 and 7 in 2023 (recap). I wasn’t able to get there last year, so I was really excited to make it work to ride a day this year (Thursday was Day-5 of the 2025 route). Thursday’s theme was College Jersey Day. I didn’t have a jersey with my Alma Mater’s name or logo (I was planning to just wear a tank top)…but after buying the 2025 RAGBRAI-themed jersey, I noticed they had some college jerseys on sale for $40. So, I’m gonna have to RAGBRAIfess that I walked away with two new biking jerseys, and wore the Iowa one on the Thursday’s ride.
Well, there you have it. A few more ‘fessions to share, and a clean slate heading into August (seriously, how is it almost August???).
Those are my ‘fessions, do you have any that need disclosing?
I'm linking this with Marcia for the monthly Runfessions link-up
I runfess that I could do with fewer 90 degree days. Also me: I'm bummed that it's starting to get light just a little later in the mornings. Can't we have decent weather and the long daylight at the same time?
ReplyDeleteYay for ditching the streak while keeping everything that you love about Peloton!
I haven't had avocado toast in a good long while. Thanks for the reminder to do something about that!
I really wish the longer days would stick around MUCH longer!
DeleteOh, doing the Pilates "intro to basics" level for three weeks is hilarious! That's a classic, but at least you stuck with it.
ReplyDeleteAlso, well done for doing the Day-5 of RAGBRAI! And yes, of course you had to get two new jerseys! 😂
I swear, these two new biking jerseys are the LAST two, LOL. It’s kind of an addiction…
DeleteI'm never one to wish summer away, but I will admit the humidity is wearing on me a bit. I guess we can't say we didn't have a hot summer. Love the new jerseys!
ReplyDeleteThe humidity has really been insane, with ZERO reprieve days!
DeleteWelcome to the avocado toast game! It is super delicious. I try to eat a half of avocado daily at home for the good fats and yummy taste. Everything bagels spice is good on so many things. The humidity this summer has been relentless!
ReplyDeleteYou’re the one who turned me on to Everything Bagel, and it does go well on almost everything!
DeleteI would so appreciate it if Mother N could dial down the humidity - it's been rough this year for sure!
ReplyDeleteI'm also a big fan of avocado toast - so so good!
I’ve heard of avocado toast for awhile, but it never dawned on me to add any seasoning (I know, duh!). I think it’s a game-changer on quick breakfasts or mid-afternoon snacks!
DeleteI LOVE avocado toast. It's so good with olive oil, pickled onions, radish and flaky salt. Even scrambled eggs on top are so good.
ReplyDeleteHumidity here is terrible. You just walk outside and you're already soaking in seconds. I hate it. I don' know why this summer has been so awful.
It gets quite humid here, but we usually get a day or two reprieve on occasion. Not this summer, LOL!
