A Pre-Spring Coffee Chat

Although our weather is (currently) mild, and our temps are on an upward trend, I’m always down for a delish hot beverage.

Anyone else?

Disclaimer: most know I don’t care for coffee itself. Give me a hot & steamy foo-foo beverage, though, and all is well in my “coffee world.”

I’m always ready, as well, to gather with the gals for some lively chatter. What say we grab our beverages-of-choice and have at it? Shall we celebrate the upcoming spring season, together, over a coffee meet-up?

At our pre-spring coffee gathering, I’d start by sharing my stats from February. As is typical in the colder months, the February running miles always take a hit. I never panic, though, since I have plenty of other fitness activities to keep myself quite entertained. All is well.

At our pre-spring coffee gathering, I’d tell you about my strategy for cutting my sugar consumption. Although I’m not a Catholic, I have always honored the season of Lent by making a concerted effort to eliminate and/or change habits that aren’t smart choices. Since Lent began, on February 18th, I have limited myself to only ONE “sweet treat” each day. This has eliminated idly nibbling on candy while driving, and grabbing a random cookie or brownie from the office  break room. By only having one daily sweet indulgence, I actually appreciate it more. Here’s the kicker - I’m not missing all the other unnecessary sweet fixes I’d grown accustomed to. I’m calling this a success thus far!

Successfully resisting any and all temptations

At our pre-spring coffee gathering, I’d whine about This month’s lack luster full moon run. This week has been cloudy and foggy and downright gloomy on the daily.  I not only missed the lunar eclipse (in the pre-dawn hours, Tuesday morning), but also the actual full moon itself (Tuesday and Wednesday evenings). Finally, on Thursday morning, I did a short run, amidst the (again) cloudy skies, and called it good. First World Probs, anyone?

At our pre-spring coffee gathering, I’d express my shock that the 2026 Week of Pi is almost here…like, Sunday (March 8th) is Day-1. This will be my 7th year of this annual ritual, where I run 3.14 miles - everyday - leading up to my National Day of Pi birthday (March 14th). Stay tune!

Finally, at our pre-spring coffee gathering, I’d brag about how my “save everything” mentality worked in my favor.  I’d been wearing a favorite pair of sunglasses, and remember stashing them in my jacket pocket as I walked into the store. As I was leaving, I retrieved them and noticed one of the lenses was missing. Ugh! After diligently looking everywhere, I’d almost given up on finding the missing lens, but I wasn’t ready to toss them. Imagine my elated surprise when I noticed a bright something sparkling in the itsy bitsy gap beteeen the driver’s seat and door frame. I had to access it from behind the seat, reaching way under …but the missing lens had been rescued!

Good as new!

So that’s what I’d bring to the table, at our pre-spring coffee gathering. Speaking of which, I’ve had the floor long enough and I think I’m due for a refill.

Your turn…what would like to chat about? What would you be drinking, coffee or something else?

Since it's the first weekend of the month, I'm linking this with Deborah and Coco for the Ultimate Coffee Date

  1. Pi week is on the horizon! Everything is happening so fast. I have the feeling that March will be history before we know it.

You know I'm having coffee for the coffee chat, but only if the chat is first thing in the morning. If I've already had my one cup of the day, then I'd have to get something foo-foo and low caffeine. Team First World Problems here!
