There's that saying...Cold hands, warm heart. And, that usually applies to me all.the.time. Especially in cooler weather, my hands (and fingers) will feel the chill before any other part of my body. Brrr.
Enter Turtle Gloves.
These are nifty mittens, with a fold-over feature, that instantly converts them to fingerless gloves or wrist warmers. Talk about multi-functional cold weather gear!
Not only do they keep one's hands toasty warm, but the versatility of the "finger-less" option is pretty sweet. Often times, I play the Gloves On, Gloves Off game while running. Have you ever played that game as well? You know the drill...your hands get too hot, so you take off the gloves/mittens, only to be cold within minutes. Hence, the gloves go back on, and the on/off cycle repeats itself.
The Turtle Gloves fabric is moisture-wicking, so even if your hands get a little too warm, they won't feel sweaty or clammy. I had the mid-weight gloves, so while they felt plush, they weren't overly thick or cumbersome. In fact, one advantage I had (since I've been rocking this stress fracture) is that I wore these a few times for bike rides. My hands were kept warm, and I didn't have any awkward fumbles on the handlebars or shifting gears.
Obviously, I've worn these for several runs in recent weeks. Although it took a little bit of practice, flipping the cover over (to convert them to fingerless gloves/wrist warmers) works slick. Since the fabric isn't overly thick, there's no excess bulk (even with the cover folded over).
These have worked well for walking or even doing yard work. The coverage is great whether there's just a little chill in the air or the temps are downright cold. Also, when worn as wrist warmers, you can slide them up your forearm if you wish to keep your hands free (or if your hands get too warm). Lots of options!
Anyways, the Turtle Gloves were a big hit for me! They're comfortable, they're convertible and, best of all, they're warm without being bulky. That's a triple win in my book.
