‘Fessing It Up for June

…and just like that, it’s time to hit the ‘Fessional.

Crazy how a week away can make one’s reality hit the fast-forward mode (I’m looking at you, Houston). Although the 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays, I’m in no hurry for June coming to an end.

That said, I have a few ‘fessions to come clean on before all the July festivities begin…

First off, I’m really having fun with all the Des Moines Corporate Games events and the subsequent excitement. My cycling team took second place in the bike ride event on June 14th (I didn’t find out that small detail until I returned from my Houston trip).  Currently, our company is in first place overall, but there still are numerous events yet to happen. This Saturday, there’s a walking event where each corporate team gets points based on participation. I need to runfess that I’m gonna sign-in, onsite, but count my morning run as my “walk“ so our team gets the points for it.

Speaking of work, we now have a jigsaw puzzle spread out on one of the tables in the 8th floor break room. This also was waiting for me upon my return after last week’s vacation. Let me puzzlefess this is now occupying my afternoon break (instead of random social media scrolling). I think it’s a much better use of my down time, at least my brain is getting some stimulation from it.

While I was in Houston, three of the four days saw heavy rain and some of the city was under a flood alert. Of course, both of my umbrellas were sitting comfortably in my car (back in Iowa). Not wanting to be sequestered in my hotel, I bought another. Although I wasn’t ecstatic about adding a third umbrella to my collection, I can honestly rainfess that I love how colorful it is!

All that Houston rain forced me to use the hotel gym. I even found myself running a couple miles on the treadmill, and didn’t go into anaphylactic shock by doing so. All told, I can gymfess that it wasn’t as bad as anticipated, and I got a lot of use out of the weights while there.

Lastly, I need to fashionfess I have a new obsession. These athletic dresses are trending right now, and they are everywhere! I have two from last summer, a coral one (pictured below)  and also an identical black one (not pictured). Earlier this summer, the magenta and indigo blue were added to the mix. I’m oh-so-close to snagging a couple more…

That’s what I got for now. The ‘fessions have been brought forward, and I can move into July with a clear mind.

How about you? Do you have any ‘fessions that need disclosed?

  1. Oh man if I had had access to a jigsaw puzzle in my office days (1) I would have loved my job and (2) would have gotten fired because I would have spent all my time doing the puzzle instead of my job.

    Athletic dresses FTW!

  2. Congrats to your team for finishing in second place on the bike portion of the Corporate Games! Let's just say you'll be "walking" very fast on Saturday for the Corporate Games challenge. ;-)

Your athletic dresses are super cute!

  3. Your Corporate Games shenanigans look really fun! I'd love a work jigsaw puzzle, although Idk how much "work" I'd do with that to distract me. Good for you for taking advantage of the hotel gym!

  4. I love a good puzzle so I can understand logging some time there. Congrats to your team on taking second. It really sounds like your office does a great job of adding in the fun :)
