So, here we are again, back at the 'fessional for one last go-round in 2021.
Care to hear a few of my 'fessions?
Let me start by saying that I have failed as a blogger, a hostess and a mom. This was maybe the 20th (?) year I have hosted Christmas. I usually have my parents, my sister and our immediate family for Christmas dinner. I have to photofess this is the first year, ever, that I totally spaced off getting any pics. Well, I did get a few nice pics of our tree, so all was not lost.
Next, let me say I embrace the holidays (and all things red and green). I fashionfess, though, it was nice, on December 26th, to not have to think about what to wear. I realize wearing the seasonal red and green is a self-imposed thing, and it's all on me, LOL. But, it's the holiday season! I think it spreads good cheer. If nothing else, I hope it elicits a smile and warm fuzzies from others (though maybe an eye roll when I'm out of range). None the less, it felt rather liberating to don the very non-holiday colors of neon orange and royal blue for my workouts the day after.
Since we're talking Christmas (or at least I am, LOL), I have to admit things were weird this year. With the hubs and I high-tailing it out of Iowa two days post-Christmas, we spent Christmas evening (and most of the next day) taking down all the decorations. Granted, I didn't put up as many Christmas decs this year, since I knew they'd all be coming down much earlier than usual. But, I have never, ever, taken down the Christmas tree on the day of. It was a total buzzkill. And, let me Christmas decfess, I know that's very much a first world problem, so I'll stop whining about it.
My right hip as been kind off and on with its crankiness recently. It's nothing painful, and it's certainly not keeping me bedridden. But, I carfess...two long days of car time did not do it any favors. Also, my long legs aren't exactly best friends with long car rides either. I know, I know...more first world probs. Moving on...
Finally, we arrived in Florida Tuesday afternoon, in time to suit up for the Cheez-It Bowl game, Wednesday evening, to cheer on the Iowa State Cyclones football team (against the Clemson Tigers). Most know we're Iowa Hawkeyes, though, and the Cyclones are our big intrastate rivals. I #Hawkeyefess that I did feel a little bit like a Cyclone poser, and may have snuck in some Iowa "contraband" to the stadium, via my one and only "stadium bag." Oh well, I'm not ashamed of supporting our rivals (as long as they're not playing us).
Anyways, those are my final 'fessions for 2021, and I'm all better. Let the new year begin...I'm ready for you, 2022!
Do you have any 'fessions to share? How was your holiday season this year? Do you feel compelled to dress in read and green this time of year? Ever supported your rival team, and dressed in their gear?
I'm linking this with Marcia for the monthly Runfessions link-up.
