Things that make you go Hmmm.
Just like that, the summer-like feels have come to an abrupt halt. The hot beverages are within arms length. And I’m craving some chat time.
Shall we gather ‘round the virtual table, and have a virtual coffee talk? I’m game, so let’s do it!
If we were to gathered, warm mugs in hand…
I’d start with my October stats. Hmmm, the numbers were alright, but nothing stellar took place. Honestly, that is not a humble brag, nor is it a disappointment. I ran (because that’s what I do). I walked (as time allowed). I biked (mostly all indoor, ugh). I also snuck in core work, almost on the daily, as part of the Cortober Challenge. The mojo was there, but I just didn’t feel the need to over-do anything with the all the other non-fitness stuff I had contending for my time and attention (see below).
I’d have to unveil the latest news, amidst of all the “adulting” in recent months…I started a new job this week! Ever since my move (late March), I’ve been commuting back to my job of 18 years. I dearly loved this job, and all of my co-workers. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to swing doing it as a hybrid/remote position. Thus, I’ve spent the past several months going through the job search process (you know, because there hasn’t been enough stress with the plethora of life changes, LOL). Fortunately, I found an enticing position in much closer proximity to my new house (with a substantial pay raise!). I’m really excited about this new opportunity! The sunrise pic below was taken on one of my final morning drives. Kind of a beautiful send-off.
Another fun thing to tell you about is the brush with fame my Market to Market team is enjoying! Our team’s finish line pic was featured on the event’s website when registration opened a couple weeks ago. Let me know if you’re wanting an autographed pic, and I’ll rally the team.
Finally, on Halloween night, some of us dressed in costume for the weekly Thursday night group run. I mean, why not? I can’t say I’ve ever done a Halloween run in costume, but I’m always up for a fun adventure. If it’s with a bunch of fellow runner friends, all the better!
Anyways, those are a few things I’d bring to the virtual table if we were having a virtual coffee talk. I can always find stuff to chat about, LOL.
How about you? If we were gathered over coffee (or any beverage of choice), what would you share?
Since it's the first weekend of the month, I'm linking this with Deborah and Coco for the Ultimate Coffee Date.
I'm also linking this with Michelle, Renee, Darlene, Jenn and Zenaida for the Fit Five Friday Link-up.
CONGRATS ON THE NEW JOBBY JOB!!! Woo hoo!!! And cha-ching on the raise!!!
ReplyDelete(And grrrr to your old employer for not being open to remote or hybrid. Now they have the cost of replacing you and just sayin' that your replacement will probably make closer to what you make in the new job.)
I think you have to knit an ugly sweater for yourself to match the kids!
I have a hand-knitted sweater in UofI colors, but it’s not technically an “ugly” style…but I have some ideas on styling one with a a different pattern that it’s in the planning stages ;-)
DeleteThat is so exciting... a new Job!! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteWoe. You area talented knitter. I love to knit but only basic stuff like socks, scarfs, cowls.
Well, I have never attempted socks, so you’re one-up on me with that!
DeleteCongrats on the new job! That should make things much better without all the commuting. Your knitting is impressive!
ReplyDeleteI have been a knitter since I was a kid (like, in second grade). The art geek in me really embraces the creative aspect in designing my own patterns. I just wish I had more time to do it!
DeleteCongrats on the new job Kim! Exciting!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jessie!
DeleteCongratulations on your new position! That's amazing and I wish you the best. Look at you go with that knitting! I love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I’m excited for this new opportunity!
DeleteCongratulations on the new job! It sounds like such a positive change, especially with the shorter commute and the pay raise—well deserved after all the stress of adulting and job searching. My husband works in auto repair, and we always talk about how a shorter commute makes such a big difference for your car and your sanity! That sunrise photo is a perfect send-off to your old role. Wishing you all the best in this exciting new chapter!
ReplyDeleteThank you!! I’ve been on the search for a new car, but wanted to wait until I had a new job (with a shorter commute) before moving ahead with that purchase. I’m glad that’s all done.
DeleteCongrats on your new job!
ReplyDeleteAnd great job on the knitting - now you really should make one for yourself :)
I have some plans in the works for a “me” sweater this winter…stay tuned!
DeleteCongrats on the new job! Your sweaters are absolutely gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Marcia!!
DeleteOh, wow! Congratulations on your new job! And the pay increase! Life will be so much better with a shorter commute!
ReplyDeleteThe 45-minute commute was tough! I know a lot of people in metro areas have much longer drives, but for Iowa, it was a bit much.
DeleteCongrats on the new job! So many first for you these last couple of years!
ReplyDeleteYou definitely need to knit an "ugly" sweater for yourself, and if you have any spare maroon and orange yarn laying around... ;-)
Unfortunately, I think I’m fresh out of maroon and orange yarn. But, I know where I could find some…
DeleteCongrats on the new job and the pay raise!! I love those sweaters. They look great.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Awesome news, thanks for the update!
