Answer: No, but a lot of my recent race swag is. And that's what I'll be wearing this spring.
1 - It's a fun color (besides, black is so overdone)
2 - I have a plethora of options (long-sleeve, short-sleeve, shirts, jackets, and even cotton options!)
3 - Blue is a color that goes with almost any other color
4 - It doesn't absorb as much heat from the sun as black does
5 - It's one of my favorite "neutral" colors
This all started last June, when I ran the local Grinnell Games Half Marathon. I'm a color gal, and I was very excited to see the pretty blue event shirt (in tech fabric, none the less). Little did I know, that was the start of an interesting blue ride...because a few weeks later, I ran the Sully Freedom Fun Run 5K, and a week after that, I ran the Grimes Farm Run. And, more blue shirts were added to my collection.
In November, I headed to Tulsa, OK for the Route 66 Marathon and 5K...and the 5K shirt and the marathon jacket were both blue.
Alas, this blue trend didn't end in 2016. In March, I ran the Wintrust Lakefront 10-miler in Chicago...and brought home another blue jacket.
Just this past weekend, I ran in the Live Healthy Iowa 5K, and received (yet) another blue event shirt. I'm currently training for Grandma's Marathon (June), and as part of the early bird registration, I received a 2017 training jacket....and it's also blue! Rest assured, I have no misgivings wearing this training jacket now...I've run Grandma's before (in 2015), and I know you do not receive the official marathon shirt until after you've crossed the finish line.
So, there you have it (them?).... 20 events in the past 10 months, and 10 of them came with blue swag. What do you think of my blue collection? Have you ever received a lot of race gear in the same (or similar) colors in a short period of time?

Wow, you do have alot of blue stuff! Blue is one of my favorite colors to wear as well. I am trying to think about my race swag, and I guess a bunch of it is blue...but not as much as yours!ReplyDelete
It's crazy how much blue I have acquired just in the past year!Delete
What great looking swag! I love blue, but haven't seen that trend in the past few races I've run. We'll see what this year brings!ReplyDelete
I have a lot of colorful swag...but all of this blue is pretty recent LOLDelete
I totally agree with you - sometimes I get so sick of buying everything in black, especially workout pants! We all need a pop of color and I think you nailed it with all of your blue gear!ReplyDelete
Well, most of this blue gear came with registration fees LOL I do have a few but tanks, but all of these race shirts are crazy!Delete
Very blue indeed! I was just noticing the other day as I planked in the pain cave that most of my medal ribbons are blue, with orange a close second. I have friends who always race in stealth black and I tried it a few times, but I have to say I prefer color. Hi-viz!ReplyDelete
Oh yes...color all the way!Delete
I have about 3 blue race tees, I think. A couple of long sleeved race tees, too. But that's from several year's racing.ReplyDelete
I do love blue. And purple, and pink, and teal . . . I love colors!
I love bright colors, too ;-)Delete
I like blue but I wouldn't like to have a ton of the same color race shirts in such a short period of time.ReplyDelete
I know...it's crazy how much blue I've acquired...Delete
I'm such a fan of that navy blue too! It's so universally flattering! Great stuff. Have a wonderful weekend.ReplyDelete
I like blue, too ;-)Delete
So crazy, all the blue shirts!!! I've noticed the trend as well. Good thing I like blue!ReplyDelete
I love blue, too, but a little variety would be appreciated LOLDelete
I do not really have too many blue things at all! Maybe I should. I want to be hip too :)ReplyDelete
Come do a few races with me...I seem to find the events that have blue race swagDelete
Dang that is a lot of blue! I think I have a lot of blue shirts too. :)ReplyDelete
I'm just thankful most of these blues are differentDelete
I need to come visit. I am running the Code Blue 8k tomorrow. And I don't have much blue. I have lots of purple, orange and pink. Help!ReplyDelete
I have alot of colorful stuff,no doubt, but all of this blue is crazy!Delete
I love blue, but I'm all about the jewel tones!ReplyDelete
I love the jewel tones as well ;-)Delete
Blue is my FAVORITE color ever. Love!!! And it looks so darn good on you!ReplyDelete
I certainly have a good collection going....Delete
Those are some super cool blue swags you got Kimberly! Blue looks great on you!!ReplyDelete
Thanks! I'm ready for some new colors, though...Delete
That is a lot of blue swag! The Iowa Live Healthy 5K is a super cute and looks comfy too! I would definitely like having extra blue event shirts, than random ugly colors. I once got a shirt that was brown!ReplyDelete
ewwwww,brown? My condolences... ;-)Delete
I wish I had more blue finishers tees...it's my favorite color! I did hear about the Grandma jacket swag...maybe one day I'll get to do that race!ReplyDelete
We had black finisher shirts in 2015 (I don't know if they had training jackets that year or not)Delete
Wow! That's a lot of blue. I'm a fan of race swag that's not black or white too.ReplyDelete
Yes, I'm totally done with black and white race gear...Delete
Wow! That is a lot of blue! I feel like all those races need to coordinate and be more color agnostic haha.ReplyDelete
ha ha!! Truth!Delete
That is a lot of blue! I haven't noticed a trend like that in my race swag yet. I have to agree... blue is a heck of a lot better than black!ReplyDelete
