Question: Do you carry your phone with you when you head out for a run?
I sincerely hope your answer is YES!
Having your phone along, while out and about, is pretty much a given these days...isn't it? It's not only a security blanket (of sorts) should there be an emergency, but it's a vital source for workout apps, music/podcasts, and GPS assistance. And let's not forget all those pics and selfies just waiting to be documented.
No doubt, there are options aplenty for carrying your phone, and I've tried most of them. Personally, I have never been a fan of utilizing pockets on clothing (too bulky!). Arm bands feel cumbersome to me, and I find it difficult to retrieve anything from inside of them (awkward!). And, I have yet to find a fuel belt that will stay in place...they all bounce on me and/or ride up to my natural waist (so uncomfortable and so annoying!).
Enter the Koala Clip!
Recently, I was offered the opportunity to review the Koala Clip, and it was a no-brainer since I've been using it consistently (and loving it) for almost a year. What first intrigued me about the Koala Clip was its convenience. What sold me on it, was its versatility.
The Koala Clip is basically a pouch that your phone (or even cash or an ID) can fit snugly inside. It's outer layer is a breathable mesh fabric, and the inner lining is water/sweat resistant. It zips closed to secure everything inside. The unique feature, though, is the magnetic clip, which secures the pouch to back strap(s) of your sports bra. It stays in place, with no bouncing, against your back.
Obviously, the Koala Clip works well for running, or even walking. Many runners have a preferred fuel belt or hydration vest for longer runs, and this is not meant to replace those. For a short run or walk, when extra fuel or hydration is not needed, though, the Koala Clip is ideal.
Even though it's meant to be clipped to your sports bra, it also can be attached to the neckline of a fitted top (like a mockneck). I have also seen where you can use the magnetic clip to secure it to the waistband of compression tights or leggings.
Last winter, I found the Koala Clip to work well as a slip-resistant case for my phone. Although it wasn't as convenient to secure it under my bra strap (underneath several layers of clothing), I was able to simply carry it in my gloved hand without worrying about dropping it. Also, if I tucked it into a jacket pocket, the pouch gave it an extra layer of "warmth" to help save the battery on those really cold runs.
Quite by accident, I discovered the Koala Clip also worked well for biking! Even with several biking jerseys in my arsenal, I honestly do not need all those extra pockets for a short ride. I can just slip my phone into the pocket, secure it under my strap(s), and no worries.
So, there you go! Another option for carrying your phone (as well as cash or an ID) without the fuss of a belt or bulkiness of over-loaded pockets. If you're interested, I have a discount code to share: runningonthefly10 will save you 10% on your purchase.
How do you carry your phone (and/or small items, like cash or an ID) when you go for a run? Do you utilize different options, depending on the distance you're going?
